Yes - I want to fish. Count me in.

Plan on going out late afternoon and trolling south from PB Inlet to south of Boynton. We'll start our drift at dark and see what happens. May be out late.

all this fishy talk is wayy off cruiser topic :flipoff2: ...bag of red meat, what!! Opting to go fishing when there's work on the cruiser to be done :ban: And Capt Jim, an avatar with a BOAT of all things...

Here's the work or art in its final (yeah right) pre painting stages.

Cage-2.webp

Doh! Good zinger Chuck. That cage is a work of art. Good job. Get it painted - you're coming to GSMTR right - damn well better be :flipoff2: we need a few good looking 40's to offset the damaged krap we'll be dragging up from South Florida.

I agree Chuck, sorry fot the Hi-Jack, however, the pic of your truck in your avatar appears to be as deep of water as my boat avatar...:flipoff2:

BTW, Your cage looks sweeeeeet!!!

Hope to see you up at GSMTR.

TODAY
SOUTHEAST WINDS AROUND 15 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 4 FEET.
INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS

...maybe some cruiser work will get done afterall... :flipoff2: Bag of meat... too funny. Yeah, I'm ignorant. The cage is on.  I'm going to GSMTR for sure. Its only a question of which rig gets me up there. Who thinks driving the 40 to TN is insane? ...I do. Al, are you [slowly] driving the Velveta up there?

Hell yeah I am driving Velveeta up. I have a top speed of 63, You are more than welcome to ride up with me. I got the 8274 mounted in the non-winch ARB Saturday...of man it was a tight fit...pics coming tonight.

jammin a 8274 into a non-winch ARB is tons of fun;)

clears everything within a 1/8 of an inch... had to relocate my hella's and my CB mount. Clock the 8274 forward for clearance issues. Ended up not having and aproach angle loss.....woohoo. I still have to cut in the sythentic fairlead hole and throw on the sythentic rope, run wire to all the crap, paint, wir ethe hellas back up and the bumper will be done....now onto the engine.....

I am not wild about the hella location but thats the onyl place they can go as of now...

Lookin' good, Al!

Try putting longer bolts/studs into your Hella's and mounting them on up-side-down below the their current position.

Working on my 40 and 80 today. Rain is threatrening and my garage is full of crap!

had to make a tough decision this week...

Well guys,

I had to make a tough decision this week. I will not be going to GSMTR this year. :crybaby:

There are a few reasons, some of which involve the current state of the Cruiser and the time left to get ready. Even the FJ80 is making crunching noises that I think may be a broken birfield.

It sucks, but I feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders too.

I should still have the FJ40 on the road in fairly short order and should be able to take it to some upcoming FLCA events after GSMTR.

Hit the trails hard for me guys.

Eric,

None of ever wait until we're ready before we leave. In fact, we are NEVER ready when we do leave. You still have 2 weeks to work on yours. You can change-out the 80 birf in less than an hour. I would keep plugin' away and see how far you get in 2 weeks.

There are a few different things playing into this - It just can't be this year.

I understand. Although we a are several hours apart. let me know if you need anything. Be happy to help in any way if I can.

Got the water pump, smog pump, alt, old hoses, smog crap, air rail, fan clutch, rad, battery tray, all out and started putting all new crap in. Also got the line lock installed.

Prob Saturday night, I think the plan is to drive at night to beat the heat. Since Velveeta wag has no A/C..aside from having the windows down:) When are you at the crew going up? I gotta find out where you guys camp on the TN side for next year because the 45 minute drive each way everyday from crawlfords to the trails is gonnnnna suck.

I will be leaving the thursday evening with Sputnik40. Possibility I may leave on wed. evening. We will stay at my place in SC until early sunday, when we leave for our camp.

We are not hard to find along the river. Just watch for our trucks in case we can't get our usual site. Feel welcome to camp with us if you like. That ride to/from crawfords does suck. Our camp is just a couple of minutes towards Green Cove from the bottom of Upper 2.

BTW, we usually leave right after the raffle if you want to caravan back with us. Usually drive for a couple hours and get a cheapo hotel for a couple of hours of rest in a real bed.

So I started my truck up installing a butt load of new crap..\ the charge light starts flashing after a few seconds and the needle starts bouncing off of 14 volts on the gauge. I installed a new Toyota Alt and regulator from C-Dan...So they should be good. Anyone know why this would be happenin..

thanks...

-Al

Bad regulator/diode? Loose connection? Loose belt?

I have gotten defective new parts in the past. Try swapping out to your old regulator.
