Ted, I like where you are headed. 2nd Gens are a dime a dozen with blown 3.0s. I already have an R150 in the garage. 4 seats plus storage.... and I have a place to park junk now. Of course a Lexus 4.0 with triples would be even better :smokin:

Triples is WAAAAYYYYY overkill. I think mini truck duals would be the way to go. And I would do the 2.28/4.70 combo. My duals with just the 2.28 in both was plenty low for just about anything you're going to encounter. In fact, double low was almost too low. I'm kinda glad I didn't blow the extra moneys on the 4.70s in that truck.

Edit: Just the 4.70 or 2.28/2.28 is 84:1 ratio, 2.28/4.70 is like 173:1. Don't think you need ~500:1 like some arsehole that Ted mentioned.

Yeah back on GSMTR topic. Looks like I have some interest on the 80. @beno, how's that passenger seat lookin???

You might actually get to know what it feels like to WHEEL :steer: at GSMTR if you ride with Beno and not just hang out at camp :flipoff2:

BTW- Thanks for getting it back on topic, I was about to have to delete all those posts that I dont agree with :grinpimp:

not to belabor the point but this video of Steve crossing Walden's Ridge last year is probably the best perspective I've seen on video. It goes without saying that pics and videos never do justice to anything we do. It's much better full screen

What? So the 80 may be gone before GSMTR? If you aren't bringing it then who am I gonna ride with.... guess I will find another kids table to sit at:doh:

Funny you mention that, he sent the pics to his wife and apparently she put the smack down on that idea.

So I might just have it. :hhmm:

Man, I'm so happy I have no wife.....

She would probably smack down 99% of my LC ideas.

That would inevitably lead to a prolonged brain hemmorage or a divorce....

My wife acts like she doesnt like my 80s, but really she does...:grinpimp:

It's for sale btw!!! Listing it up for $3995 on Facebook and CL. I'll do it for $3500 for a MUDder if y'all know anyone looking. It's a steal for a running, driving, locked truck.
That truck is much more of what I'd hoped to find; I'd buy it in a New York minute and ship it up here if I didn't already get one.
~I'm going to ride with Onur that day so I can check it out. ~

If y'all run this trail in the same direction we always have so far, which is S to N, anyone riding passenger will have a more unfortgettable experience than the drivers; especially if there are no doors. BTW, at least SOMEONE needs to go in over the spines at the "real entrance" this time. There is a section just after that that has lots of pucker factor if you don't have a spotter or at least someone in the passenger seat to tell you where the edge is.

Edit: Just the 4.70 or 2.28/2.28 is 84:1 ratio, 2.28/4.70 is like 173:1.
Actually, dual 2.28's equates to about 5.2:1, so duals are a tiny bit lower - and yes, it is a noticeable difference from 4.7 IMO. (I know first hand since this aforementioned arsehole has both options to choose from in my truck)

It's all in how and what you want to conquer. I used to stall out all the time when I only had a 2.28x4.7 setup. And the speed redux from 500:1 was pretty much just for Katemcy, but there were numerous other advantages that triple cases lent to the truck; it wasn't all about the gearing.

I know we always say that pictures don't do it justice but in this case it looks pretty damn bad!!! Hoping that the pictures DO do it justice on this one...

I would say that you are not an average wheeler Steve. I mean that as a huge compliment. Your willingness to put your truck in situations most of us wouldn't even consider is pretty amazing. So, I am saying that the triples would be overkill on a truck that Matt is building simply because I don't think he would put his rig through the paces quite like you do. For 99% of the wheeling he (or anyone else really) is going to do here in the SE he would probably be totally fine with duals and 2.28/4.70. I DO like the fact that you have so many more options with your transmission/transfer with the multiple cases.

think I would argue the gearing allows him to wheel the rig differently than most. I'm running dual 2.28s and will be throwing 4.7 in the rear at some point. I love the slow but just not slow nuff for me.

You just need the right one. Erin negotiates completely backwards of most I have decided. I ask for a locker and she says only if she gets her own rig. I ask for a stripped lower and she says only if she can have a new pistol. I know I married up. :)

I have to mostly agree with you Sam, I know I baby my junk, BUT I hope that when I can have a trail rig that I can eventually loosen up and dent some sheetmetal :steer:

Looks like Aidan and I will be heading up there THURSDAY morning!!! My HR lady is super nice!
