I got my reengineered awning mounted up this weekend for the upcoming summer months. The new hinge is much beefier than the old. I didn't let the poles hang but it felt sturdy and I deployed the awning all by myself. I had to get the wife to help me roll it up and put it back in the cover. Another velcro strap at the front of the bag would make things much easier.
Will you be at the relic run? Would like to see your modification in person.

my clone foxwing is in storage no where near me right now but i'm trying to put a plan together to get it mounted up. For now i'm just going to use the yakima round bars I have. They sell a kit from Rhino Rack for the foxwing to attach to those bars. Is the connector on the back of the knock off the same as the foxwing? Don't have a ton of time to fab up a custom job between now and the overland rally next month.

subscribing to see if there will be a round 2.

I remember in the email chain there was talk about getting the side panels or enclosure for the clone foxwings.

Are we still thinking of putting an order through for this?

searching for the enclosure/side panels is what brought me to this thread.
interested in the foxwing clone and enclosure/side walls.

I wouldn't mind having a side panel. I don't remember seeing any type of connections for a panel on the awning. Most have a zipper across the top edge.

I can get you a foxwing like mine with enclosure and shipping for about a grand

Less if there are more people that want it.

hmmm, that sucks... mines still in the box but will be mounting it up this weekend. So I haven't actually looked at it yet.

I was hoping it had some kind of zipper system so I could attach it to the oz tent like the real fox wing does.

Beau I think is at GSMTR this weekend - I have no idea if there is service there or not.....

Dis these things not come with brackets to mount with? There are these in the box but they don't line up with the slots on the rail at all.

What are these things for then?

You should have had L brackets but they needed slight modification as well. Holes did not align.

All I did was drill out the holes that did not align thus making them slots instead.

Yeap I had to slot my holes as well. I couldn't figure out what the other brackets were for either.

Sorry for the delay, I was at GSMTR. Yes, there was discussion in the e-mail thread about the side panels, I wanted them but there was no option unfortunately.

The flat plate is aligned with the horizontal part of the L-bracket, bolt the two together, "sandwiching" your roof rack in between.

So I didn't like the mounting brackets that came with the awning and looked at a bunch of solutions most were between $100-$200 dollars then I saw that Yakima makes an awning now. So I ordered their mounting system. It requires you order the clamps and the brackets all in the brackets were $14 each and the clamps were $27 each so I'm out $81 the good news is that I had a 40% off coupon from Yakima so in the Ned all together right around $50. I go these.

I am still going to have to slot the holes because they don't line up but overall they are a stout bracket and they accept the Yakima sks locks for some added security I think I'll be happy with these. The clamp is molded plastic and the bracket is metal all pretty light weight the clamp carries Yakimas warranty as well.
