Up for sale are four green LED's to change the back light color on your Yaesu radio (may work with other brand radios). These are 3mm, 1000 mcd type. I only needed 2 but had to buy 100 to get them shipped to me. When properly installed they will change the amber back ground color to green on your Yaesu radio (at the same brightness level). Your radio should only need 2 but I am shipping 4 for $5. Check the Electronic Toys section for a write up I did based on my FT-8900R.

I'll take 4. I have the 8800. Thanks.

PM's sent.

Glad to see I am not the only guy who doesn't like the amber color. It is sort of silly but I delayed buying my radio because of the color.

By the way my thread on the install is now posted: https://forum.ih8mud.com/electronic-toys/253505-green-back-light-yaesu-radio.html

Ended up being fairly long post but I didn't want to leave out any seemingly small details that I am always searching for when I try to follow in someones footsteps. A little reassurance goes a long way.

Sell them to the VW and Chevy guys. Personally, I'm glad Toyota uses green. Seems easier on my eyes. And for those of you planning to bootleg drive with your lights off at night green lights are compatible with night vision goggles. At least U.S. spec goggles.

Can you post a pic or two? Maybe one in full sunlight and one at night? I like the green much better, but have to admit he amber is really easy to see.

The posting of pictures eludes me but I'll send you a picture of both tomorrow. Feel free to post them.

I got the picture thing figured out. No flash from my camera so it is a little blurry. November 08 small.webp

I sent an email to everyone who has sent payment and who I have shipped LEDs to.

Mine is Blue and it's a FT1500. I wonder if this is something that can be changed for ease of read on this older radio. My eyes just don't like that LCD with a Blue background!

If you can open up the display and find the LEDs the soldering is fairly easy. I don't know if green is better than blue but I also have the two original amber LEDs if you think that would be better.

I still have a few sets left if anyone picks up a radio for Christmas.

I received the LED's. Thanks. However, just as a FYI the LED's will not work on a Yaesu FT-2500. This model has mini light bulbs soldered to the board with little orange condoms to give them the color. So Now I need to source little green condoms for the light bulbs.

Thanks again,
