I just swapped my OEM wheels for 18" Tundra steelies / new rubber on my 2017 LC, and I noticed what looks like old grease on the rear caps (see pictures). Is this any cause for concern?

I don't notice any particular issues while driving, but I was under the impression that there's no regular recommended regreasing interval so I was surprised to see what looks a bit like a mess from sloppy regreasing job. I figure no harm in asking the brain trust. :)

(And yes, I know those stainless lugs look stupid. I have no idea what the tire shop was thinking. They're replacing them with black next week. Sigh.)

Thanks folks,
Ryan

Never seen that before. Maybe the grease was put on to keep the hub from rusting? I ended up painting mine with matte back aerosol to keep them looking fresh.

Some mechanics like to smear grease between the hub where it would contact brake rotor. Maybe they just put a bit over the center to prevent rust. I would just clean that up.
