That's dumb they won't sell the spout. Because the law only applies for cans that are new.... so if i have OLD cans and my spout goes bad , i cant buy a spout for them? I already own the cans..! dumb CA. Where'd you order the spout? link?

Yep, I thought it was kind of stupid as well. I told them I already owned the cans and just needed to 'replace' the spout and they wouldn't sell me one. Their loss on that one.

I had owned one s***z carb compliant can and that damn lid and spout leaked like a broken dam. So much for cleaner air with gas leaking all over just from the bouncing offroad and while pouring.

Don't know if the Wedco carb compliant is any better, but I got my hands on a couple of Wedco noncarb cans. Nothing but good said about those.

Like carrying a spare tank :D

is that the photo or my eyes, or is the rack front (cantilevered) part actually bending down? full cans?

also wondering, if you lay a can like that on its long side (as in the pic) and want to be able to open it while still laying down, how much of the capacity do you lose? are they more like 4 gallons then?

Good eye, I wonder if not the gas cans it might be the tightness of the tree limb cables going to the ARB?

IIRC, Alvaro only fills his to about 4 gallons so he can leave them on their side and be able to use the super shiphon w/o spilling gas all over the roof!

Best way would be to just fill the damn thing on it's side Eric. That way you don't over fill. hehehe

yes, but lifting these suckers up there even with 4 gals is a pain. So it would be best to fill them up up there already, but then again it's likely spill time....

No your eyes aren't playing tricks on you... i think it is bent a hair. This rack i got used from Venezuela and they probably loaded the crap out of it.. who knows.

My plan of attack is to climb up on the rack.. and have someone hand me the gas pump where i then go ahead and fill until it comes right to the cap area. Probably around 4 gallons or so. Then when i use it to fill the rig.. im getting a super siphon with 2 extensions... so the cans will never come off the rig.

Easier to lift 4 gallons, than lift and remove 5 gallons and use a spout tho! On their side and filled that way not to spill, you can use a siphon and extension and just refuel with the cans still on the rack! Would be a PITA to refuel the cans from gas pump with them already up there. Muscle up Eric!

I know you can't fill gas cans in the bed of your truck because of static electricity causing a fire. You are supposed to fill them on the ground. Is this only for plastic cans or does the fact that they are on a rack with open air all around them make this not an issue?

This is mainly for plastic cans and the drop-in bed liners which together obviously make the static electricity. Shouldn't be a factor with metal cans and metal rack.

If the air is dry, Santa Ana's, and you rubbed yourself all over your cloth seats (.00001% US cruisers have those) and climb up without touching the ground or any part of the truck untill you are pumping gas and have created some fumes then touch near the filler neck, maybe. Otherwise Dave should be fine. :D :flipoff2:

Woa, Jinx the hell out of me lol

I'll have to have my engine running and be on the cellphone talking to Mo at the same time too... to prove all the theories wrong while im filling the cans lol

Make sure to video it too cause I wanna see that. LOL

I know that's an INTI with the special slot, but I think I'd put my cans in the back on my rack. Much easier to fill...

well, I got a few cans, thanks to Smit.
I like them. (Definitely not new, though. These are older ones that have been repainted - over the dings. But good seals and insides look freshly repainted too.)
I did rinse them off and filtered the gas the first use.
Got a noticeable amount of very fine crap.
You might want to clean yours too...
