Got attacked by a dog today!!

well I am okay, and the dog was definatly not playing...........although i bet he was laughing hard inside once they let him in the house. This fat boy moved pretty fluid like getting into the truck......although I could have been introuble had my shoe slipped when climbing in.

I never really had any intention of shooting the dog......if He wouldn't have left me alone I would have just started the truck and drove to the gate.....he only guards the house, not the pasture next to it.

But all in all he is a good guard dog and I found it out the hard way.

I may have. I'm torn, because I feel like he was warned of the danger, but just sort of "forgot" about it. I'm not very sympathetic. However, I also am a "dog attacks me, do dies" kind of guy. If I get into my truck and he's still after me, or if he cuts me open, I'm thinking "bang."
 
Do you keep your registration in the glovebox along with yer' gun?

Ever been draw on when you were pulled over for speeding?
 
Probably the last thing most people would think of doing when being attacked, but shoving your fist down a dog's throat will imobilize almost any dog quickly. You might get puked on and the animal my sufocate but it won't be chewing on your arm. I did this once with a big mix breed which went after me once. The dog just went limb. Not sure if I would have the guts to try it on a Pitbull. Don't think they would have the same genetic reflex reaction as a normal dog.

i do the same thing to my women........works every time.

I wouldn't do that with a pit. They will chomp and not let go. Bad juju.

Stomp, stomp and stomp some more. Break legs and ribs and vertebrae.

My first thought was, this is my fault and I CAN'T(won't) shoot him with the pistol I had in my glove compartment, the dog is just doing what he has been trained to do. Just as fast as that thought entered the dog lunged a bit and almost got ahold of my shoe. Enter next thought, I might have to shoot the dog.

Then he calmed down, and by calmed down I mean, quit biting and just barking. At that point I remembered I still had the house's phone number. I called and luckily the son hadn't got out of bed yet and he opened the door and the dog went inside......I came down from my perch in my truck, unhooked the trailer and left.

Very exciting, yet very frightening in the strength, speed, and quickness to agression the dog exhibitted.

Just thought I would share.

Sorry, but that was a dumb**** thing to do. You had instructions from the property owner and you should have heeded them. You had the phone number and didn't call ahead--especially knowing there is a protective-type dog involved. If you'd shot the dog, you'd have been wrong. Sorry if I'm not sugar-coating it for you, but there it is.

While this is quite true, I am completely unsympathetic to Lunyou's being where he was, when he was, how he was. The dog was doing nothing but its job.

I have to deal with this stuff at work all the time--but when I come calling, you better best believe I'm on the property with good legal reason and in performance of my duties. In such case, dog might have to pay the price.
