Got another 40

I love my jk, it's done everything I could ask...except be a cruiser. I've been eying this thing up about 8 years and finally was able to make it happen. 1971 all original drivetrain. Probably about a 12-13 year old resto. Truck is in overall very good condition with a few flaws here and there. First order is to put some skinnier wheels and tires on it and figure out how to get more legroom.

You are welcome to look at my 40 for the "more legroom" addition. Instead of buying a kit, I made one that is full length rather than a cantilever style. I was able to use the rear posts and simply turn them around. I got 1 1/2"-2" more legroom. I am 6'5" and it wasn't a luxury for me, it was a necessity.

I will try to take some pictures if you would like or I will show you at one of the upcoming UC events.

Sounds good. Does yours still have the bench seat? Everything I have been seeing for moving the seat back is for the buckets?

This guys name was James. He was in Greenwood and bought it back around 2002-3 from Knoxville TN. He and a friend performed the restoration. A few things that are on the first order of business are:

remove the Dixie horns
remove the "cage kit" or take it apart and rework it. The back half is bolt together and the front half may as well be tack welded.
I ordered some steel wheels and hubcaps today from Toyota here in town and got some 33x10.50 AT KO's on the way. Got what I think is a good deal on the rims and hubcaps. 100 a piece and 18 a piece.

Also the main long brake line on the front axle is pinched so it pulls to the left when braking.
I also need to adjust the clutch rod. It lets out waaaaaaaaaay at the top. Anybody know which way you adjust it?

Since the dash is unmolestered I think I am going to hide some sort of Bluetooth speaker somewhere and just play music off the iphone.

Did you sell the JK, or just adding this? Either way, I love it.

Jawbone sells waterproof/dustproof Bluetooth speakers that put out way more sound than the factory system in my 80. You could do that and mount it with some industrial Velcro behind the dash. Just rip it out to charge it.

Ive still got the JK. I LOVE the vehicle but I imagine I will probably jump into another 80 if I can find a nice enough one. I wish I never sold my LX450.

The Jawbone on velcro is a good idea.

Forgot to ad before that it has a nice Saginaw steering kit. It is a very factory looking setup. I need to put a belt on the pump but it drives down the road straight and true.

I will try to get some pictures of mine this weekend and post them. Teddy sat in mine and commented on him actually being comfortable. It made all the difference in the world.

Ok, this thing has an intermittent starting issue. Occasionally it gets no spark. Only has 7.5 volts at the coil with key on. Any ideas? Still has points ignition as well.

Think I have the starting issue whooped. I took the points out and cleaned them and cleaned the rotor button. Fired up good Everytime so far.

Next issue is the power steering pump. It seems like it is missing a bracket...anybody recognize this kit or know what it's missing?

First off, get rid of all those worm gear hose clamps and replace that upper rad hose.. Second, I think that's just a vent that is threaded to allow for other accessories. But, I'm not sure.

Seems like there should be another bracket to stabilize it. All you can do to adjust it is loosen the one bolt and pivot the pump on it. I guess I'll just have to see if it slings the belt when I put it on. And yeah I want to re-run that fuel line and I have some new radiator hoses too.

That's a J T Outfitters kit. Not really well made. I've had to modify , repair welds, and add some angles to stiffen it.
You will also need to use a 9 or A series belt.
The Saginaw pump originally comes with a 7 series, but it looks like a Toyota pump on yours which should fit an A series.
The threaded holes are for brackets, but it only uses a pivot bolt and a tensioning bolt.

Maybe that is a 60's Saginaw pump
They changed in the late 60's and are the most common.
Either way, it looks like it has the wide pulley on it.
