He's a big boy!

Labs are especially close to my heart but it really (I mean REALLY) angers me when people don't take responsibility for a pet they have chosen to care for.

Foolish irresponsible bastards.

Congratulations and much respect on adopting the new dog.

NICE one! Cool that he's mellow. Chocolates tend to be hyper and goofy. Pretty weird that Murphy likes him.

Name the next one Birfield... ;)

Cool. Looks like a great feller there. If I had more land I'd have a pack myself or at least run a shorthair rescue closer to denver.

not in my experience! you can get a hyper in any color, but all of my chocolates (5) are loving, intelligent, hard workers, and smart. they are probably the most laid back of all my dogs except for one of them; she's hyper as hell, but she's still a pup.

ran him up to my vet, no chip, so we will see what happens.

I would typicaly agree that chocolates are more hyper than yellows(all that i know are mellow) black can go either way

Nice

Good for you. I think rescues make the best pets. I think they remember the bad times.

We have five dogs that were all rescues. One from the vet, one from petfinder and three strays.

We actually have a Bloodhound that the wife picked up the other day. He needs a good home.

All of my labs (total of 6) have been hyper until the age of 2-3, then they mellow, regardless of color (i've had all colors).

Great looking dog

Nothing tugs at the ole heart strings like an abandoned dog story...Have to go hug my Black Lab now..

nothing beats wheeling with a dog...I have a yellow lab that is nine, but she's going on two....that dog lives for life.

glad your lab found you - he's much better off than with his old owner. This is how we ended up with dog #3 at our house. It is amazing that people don't understand you can just go down to the spca and drop a dog off - atleast they will have shelter over their head.

Sunshine loaded up in the 55 waiting to wheel

Dogs in general but Labs especially are such kind, loving souls - we humans are so f'd up. He's a handsome guy - hoping for the best for both of you.

I like dog better than most people i have met :)

yeah this one is a keeper, if not I have 2 good families in my office that want him.

Yeahhhhhh!!!! That's what I love to see! A loving homeless pup finding a wonderful home! All of my dogs have been/are rescues. Even the Yorkie. I saved him from being hit by a truck, and he became mine. ;p
My yellow lab mix came to my house also. Guess they can sense a good home when they see it. :D
That doggy is gorgeous- he looks so calm and relaxed.
I'm so happy he has a great home!!!!!!!

If you weren't so far away, I'd take that bloodhound. My wife wants one bad.

Nice looking animal. I makes me really miss my Chocolate Lab, he would have been 5 yrs old...three days ago.

I don't think your new dog is 5-6, judging only from what I can see in the photos. Perhaps 3 yrs. old tops......(but who knows).

You're a lucky man, and I hope the dog gets to stay with you.

I would have agree'd)and thats what I 1st thought) but his rear teeth are getting a bit brown, pretty much what you would see in a 5-6 year old dog.

He seems VERY happy, Beau is having some issues.....but even at 13 years old, Beau is still the Alfa Male

Yesterday morning about 6.30am, we had a very nice male chocolate lab show up at our place, he was soaking wet, we live by the boat launch so no suprise. We had never seen the dog before as well as none of our neighbors. He hung around and wouldn't leave, went to work, came home, still here. Posted some found signs, called all the local vets, the humane socity ect.

My best guess(and I am pretty sure I am right) is that someone abandoned him, they took him to the boat launch.........tossed the ball in the water and ditched him(not the 1st time its happened here) He has no desire to head back to the water, wants nothing to do with getting in the Cruisers.........think his last ride he got dumped :(

So........we decided to keep him, he loves the heck out of us AND Murphy(the old grumpy Sharpie) LOVES him....and she hates everyone/everything.....we took that as a sign :) Beau(my old yellow lab) isn't to happy but he will be OK with the new dog, Beau was a used dog when I got him....so he knows how it feels not be be loved

My guess is he is about 5-6 years old, still has his balls(he wont for long), he is purebread and very sweet, well behaved and very mellow. He acts like he might have been mildly abused, he is a little head shy, but not bad. He has NO desire to leave our property......he must have knew it was home. He won't leave my side...

So.......meet Heckler :D

I'll keep watching the paper for a lost lab and willl get him to the vet to get scaned.....but I am 95% sure he was dumped off

And I LOVE that name, John. ;)
