I've used those cans on several trips, they work O.K. I really like the scepter military cans that you can get at Slee. 24$ approx. Much higher quailty. Have fun in mex, Just got back from a surf trip in Punta De Mita, flew down.

Yeah. After I ordered, I did some investigating and realized these were not the "military" version. The ones above avg for about $15, but can be found for the $8 pretty often. I have 4 metal water cans and wanted to get some plastic. Might end up selling all 8 I'll have now and get 4 military grade plastic.

Looks like the deal is over and my order didn't even go through.

I guess it's a good thing considering I decided after purchasing that I wanted the "military" version instead.

ah! glad you didn't end up with something you didn't want. i'm going to give them a whirl for this trip and see if it's worth the $100+ dollars in upgrading or if these will work fine for $8/piece.

I have one of these. I like it. The handle seems a little flimsy but it has not broken yet. Plus it doubles as a cooler cause the mouth is big enough to stuff beers in and I can fit my hand into it. Great way to go stealth.

The Scepter military containers are way superior to all the containers shown on this thread. Pay once, and forget the problem for the rest of your life. I have also used one of the Wedco metal containers and it was excellent too, though some have complained of a taste associated with the lining. I also think the Scepter containers have a bit of a plastic taste after a week on the road.

Trollhole-One of our guys had those exact cans, and he got cracking of the plastic on the upper curve. The plastic is harder and more brittle than the Scepter ones.

in the end, no one doubts the utility and durability of Scepter.

however, when one is acquiring many odds and ends [fishing tackle, spear gun, supplies, books, etc.] sometimes budgetary concerns with the CFO are tabled with judicious use of reasonable compromise.

plus, we're getting married next month. i can't blow the bank on this trip. :]
