Researching a big set of lights to mount on an ARB front bumper, looking for suggestions. The ideal size I'd like is the Lightforce 240s, but I've heard they are really easy to steal. I'm going to be in a place where anything that can be easy to unscrew/pry/or pop loose will probably get nicked off the vehicle. I plan to use security nuts, but some lights are easy to remove from the mounting base - which is not good for me. I had a set of the Hella 4000s on my last truck and would like a big sturdy housing that will throw a similar amount of light on the road.

I've been looking at:
  • Lightforce 240
  • Hella Rallye 4000
  • IPF 900xs

Without having seen each of these up close, its hard to get a sense for how difficult they would be for someone to steal.
Any recommendations? Any I haven't considered?

I got some Blitz 240s ripped the guts out upgraded them to 100 Watt HID for like $100. These are the brightest lights I have ever seen. Here is the thread:

also, LF sells anti-theft nuts that you can use both for the mounting locations and the arm pivot.

Along with a locknut you could use Loctite red.....you need to use a heat gun to remove. You could also have the nut welded in place.

I've since sold the Lightforce and now just use the 8" HID, they are brighter, cost a hell of a lot less and have a much better mounting design. I know I will be in the minority but I wouldn't pay the $$$ for Lightforce..

I've been very pleased with my IPF900XSD's on my FJ Cruiser. Between them and a Brite Box they'll light up any trail or road. I wouldn't hesitate to put them on my Hundy.

I also purchased matching IPF locking nuts for $30. If somebody wants your stuff bad enough and has enough uninterrupted time they'll find a way to get it.

Interestingly, I originally wanted to go with Hella 4000'S as Overland Journal did a light comparison a year or so ago and the 4000 was one of the better performing lights if not the BEST light. Yes, even better overall performance than some of the HIDs. Before any one poo poos this:flipoff2:, don't take my word for it. Google it and see their test for yourself.

The 4000's were too big for the front of my FJ so I went with the IPF's. Again been happy even though the mouse on/off switch is a bit annoying and the grill covers are VERY tight and hard to remove so I just leave them on.

Yeah who makes those 8" HID lights, i would love to check them out.

Has anyone run the Hella Rallye 4000 compacts? I've heard they have similar light output and an identical light pattern to the regular 4000's.
