could someone kindly advise me in the best way to remove the windsheild and cargo glass from my pig....i have stared at it many hours fearful of just diving in and giving it a try.....i really don't want to break it....it is a 72 and there is no chrome trim...any advice would be appreciated!...thanks

The side windows will just push out... use some soapy water in a spray bottle. The windshield will break- unless you cut it out; just cut out the rubber gasket, its much cheaper than a windshield ( if you can even find one?)

Osage--do a quick search and I think you will find what you need--IIRC I remember one thread suggesting the removal of the windshield is best done by two people--one on the inside cutting and a gentle push with the other playing catch up--best check out the search though for a thorough explanation--GL- Dave

thanks guys...i take it that a new gasket for the windsheild is readily available?...i will search somemore....and try to photograph the operation as it proceeds...may help someone else along the way...i really don't want to pull them but it is the only way to correctly install the new headliner ...not to mention the repaint...again thanks

When I was doing mine, the windshield gasket was not an easy thing to come by. The windshield is also a tricky piece of glass to remove. Just take your time and cut as much of the gasket as you can and then have 2 people push from the inside. Even being careful I broke my 37 year old windshield ;-)

glass removal

The windshield rubber is available from SOR. It's the cargo window rubber that is unobtanium (unless you fabricate it from windshield rubber).

Osage--check out Lil' John's thread "Headliner..what can I do?" I posted Cabe Toyota's phone numbers where I bought my cargo windows rubber--$220 IIRC

thanks for the continued advice....might be worth just leaving it in and figuring a way around it...i most certainly do not want to break any glass or be left with a leaky windshield...all is water tight right now

just read the headliner thread...i wonder how weeboos installation came out?...does he still post here?....maybe i will look at some other options and leave the glass the hell alone...money for glass is not in the budget!

I'm getting my headliner installed the week of the 14th, the pro doing it had to get some surgery and that pushed it back a week. I'll post photos and full details.

I'll add: one of the reasons I don't want to remove my glass to do the headliner is because the glass removal people (a third-party professional company) told me that they cannot guarantee that there won't be glass breakage. They said the glass breaks like 35% of the time. I don't want to risk that on my old piggie...

I tried too take out my windshield in one piece, but the weatherstripping was Fossilised I ended up taking a hammer to It

I have already bought new OEM windshield and Aftermarket weatherstripping.

The cargo windows came out easy but i have not bought the cargo windows weather stripping as of now :hhmm:... Cabe TOYOTA ...thank's Joe

i am thinking panels of some sort...fabiric wrapped or some other versitile material...carbon fibre maybe....cut out the old headliner and install a "panelized" system with some sound deadening materials/insulation installed directly on the lid...still thinking on it:hhmm:....i do not want to break glass!...keep us posted weeboo
