Gas explosion

ok, not the kind of explosion that involves flames. I went to put gas in the Pig and gas exploded all over me when I took the cap off. I'm a little concerned about this as I have never had this happen with any of the many vehicles I've owned. What gives?

Sounds like a venting problem. You need a vented gas cap and check all your vents coming from the gas tank. Sounds like it's building up pressure.
