G52 is a PITA to shift

also, for the throw out bearing, just pull it off of the shift fork and pull the shift fork off of the ball, clean the surfaces that touch, and put a little bit of grease on them. more is not better in this case, more simply means that there is more grease for dirt to stick to.

btw, 2GTF, that pic isnt showing.

i got the pilot bearing off and i guess i was thinking of a different bearing than the throwout. i was thinking the bearing on the clutch fork in the bellhousing. but i've got them both out and the only other thing i need to do is resurface the flywheel and get the clutch and pressure plate.

i've ordered the super HD ceramic clutch kit from malin but they have yet to send my a shipping notification after almost a week so i sent steve an email asking him about it today. hopefully it'' be here soon.

that is the throw out bearing.

hmm. so if i ordered it tuesday night got the order conformation but not shipping it should be here monday? i live in texas so it normally takes about 5-6 days to get here. it's just weird because they normally send shipping notices so you can track it if you want.

well after a week of waiting i finally got a shipping notice so i'm kind of annoyed but as long as i get it i'm happy. so on tuesday when i get home from school it will hopefully be there and i will get straight to work and hopefully have it in by 8 or 7. i'll have my friend who has pulled engines and trannies a lot as he has a Fixed Or Repaired Daily(quite literally) so it should be easy. any tricks i should know about for when i put the tranny back on, ways to put the bearings in correctly without damaging them. also i think my problem was not only the pressure plate but also the pilot bearing didn't turn by hand but it would with a screwdriver at the right angle. i wonder if i should get the tranny input shaft seal while it's off and i'm waiting? thanks for all the input guys.

Input shaft seal is a good idea. Beg, borrow, rent, or buy a tranny jack. It'll save you a lot of headache.

See the link I posted above, it's not the best write up, but it's a pretty straight forward job.

Clean old bolts with a wire brush so you're not threading junk back in the holes.....

Let us know how it goes. :D

cool! i've actually got the tranny jack from my friend who's going to be helping me. so we used it to take it out and we'll put it back in that way. i'm sure this is a dumb ? but can i fill the tranny and xfercase from the top? i drained them while it was still up because i wasn't sure what the deal was. from looking in from the top all my gears look great and 4WD shifts in and out perfectly. should i get the seal OEM or just go to Orielly's? the closest stealer is about 40 min away and theres an orielly's 10 min away.

Yeah, you can fill them from the top, just make sure it's fairly level if you're going to fill it while it's out of the truck. And open the fill holes so you know when to stop...

A new Oriellys seal will probably be better than your used seal, but probably won't last as long as a new OEM seal... so 6 of one half dosen of the other....

well after 3 weeks being down my truck is back up again. she runs great and shifts great too. the only thing is, that when i shift i have to push the pedal in all the way and it grabs within moving 1/2" to 1" and boy does it grab! it's definetly be one of those be extra carefull around town so as to not peel out all the time. it's kind of funny because peeling out is just about the only way i can start out smooth without just letting the clutch out really slow and reving it higher. putting the tranny was a lot more slow going than taking it out but i'm pretty sure i got everything good and tight and whatnot. i went ahead and got an o'rielly's seal but it took forever because the guy kept ordering an automatic output shaft oil seal. all in all i'm quite happy with the clutch and stuff however i'm thinking that my slave cylinder is going to go out soon because i've got a new MC and new pressure plate and clutch and prolly the original slave. my dad was telling me that the clutch will last a lot longer if i don't just dump it all the time but i'm pretty sure that ceramic clutches are made for racing and things like that plus i didn't dump it all that much. but i will try to go easy on it just to be safe. it kind of seems like the shifting times are longer too. like i think that the new clutch lets the engine get to higher RPMs or something like that i don't know it may just be that i haven't driven it in 3 weeks.
