Fuel filter service.

Hi all.

Do you guys access the filter from the pass. side, frt wheelwell. 22re.

Have you ever noticed a starting issue-particularly a pressure issue when the filter is clogged/out of life?

Trying to figure out this warm start issue.

Don't know about the problems. You remove the filter by removing the pass tire and taking off the cover from the inner fender. I usually drop the starter a tad to make access better. Disconnet the (-) side of the battery first in case your starter bumps the frame. You don't want to catch that leaking fuel on fire.

yeah, when its clogged it can be a PITA to start.
your on the right track on the way to replace the filter.
once you get it off, you can do what i do, is zip tie it to the fender, so its easier to replace next time around.
i know your truck is not lifted, but if it were, you could skip removing the tire.

when its warm mine does the same thing. so does my buddys. by cycling the key before hand, to get a few extra blasts out of the colt start, it starts good every time.

I am thinking the same. If I know I am in that timeframe for a hard start, I can just cycle it once for a second. Then cycle again and BAM, fires right up.

BUT, if that was the case, why would it start cold in a second?

I am thinking maybe the pressure regulator at this point.

It is one of things...really not a BIG deal but just plain irritating

i dont know, its weird. when the gasoline is hot it expands, and there fore thers more pressure.

seems like theres almost too much pressure. and by cycling the key and reliving it, it starts good.

i dont think its the fault of the regulator. hell, maybe its a design flaw. but before i say it is, everyone with a 22RE would have to confirm this. and quite frankly i dont think my 89 ever had this issue. havent started it in 3 years, but once my work is done on the meat mobile i will know
