Hi,

I have the three Asfir skidplates under mine. Oil changes is not a problem, the plates has holes in them. The plates themselves are attached to two galvanized crossmembers that is bolted to the chassis .

br Jesper

You said Assfir...or maybe it was Asfir? Close enough!!! :grinpimp:

Check this out, not sure if it is available in the USA.
ASFIR - VEHICLE ACCESSORIES

I tried to work with Asfir over a year ago. They put me in contact with a guy who was supposed to be the USA distributor, and who was supposed to let me know when the products were stateside and he was going to test fit on a gasoline model. I emailed back and forth a few times with them but never heard anything back from them.

Does the Rasta4x4 skidplate work with the gasoline model?

And Jeff, you're my hero. Good luck with the project.

Will it start at the front bumper or at the factory location?
How far back do you plan to take it?

The fisrt template I made is from the first crossmember just in front the bottom of the radiator. I'm trying one from the four lower tabs on the bottome of my TJM winch mount plate. The big problem is the price of scrap aluminum!

I was going to ask where you sourced your aluminum...it has gotten SOOOO expensive! Do you have a brake?

Hows this look, ATS in Geelong Australia supplied this a yaer ago after I left my OEM plates on a rock.

Christo is supposed to be working on three skid plates for the 100 series, one front, one mid-front, one belly mount (or something like that), with the first possibly available by Cruise-Moab (at least that's what he told me a few weeks ago). Design of the belly mount is based on the Blueberry skidplate. Don't know much about the others, except that I'll be buying them.

Is it just me, or does Christo seem to like to dangle these carrots in front of us until we are nearly starved to death and then, as soon as something comes out, the same process just starts anew with his next product. Very clever marketing I must say. I think he sits in his shop and laughs like a mad scientist every time he posts something new because he knows what he's doing to us.

I'm still picking up my stock at Alco Supply on the old Mare Island Naval Ship Yard. Aluminum is now @ $3.90 per pound. I can get stainless for $1.12, should have bought a stainless sheet.
I like that steel tube frame that Muddy.au posted. Might change the next template design.

That would be difficult to change oil filter. Do you have to remove the whole front skid plate to get to it?

Budbuilt was willing to build a few years ago but could not get a test truck for fitting near his location in Lenoir, NC 28645

Augiw...

i phoned my local Toyota dealer and told them i had some custom skid plates fitted and asked if it would affect the price of the "service" next time i brought it in.
The head honcho that i've had a few run ins with said that if they can't remove the oil filter and check the unis (universal joints) then they would charge me for unbolting the custom skid plates i have.

And seriously...aside from the unbolting with their ratchets....would you trust them to bolt on the custom skid plates with any care?

So...i said ok...i'll un bolt them and bolt them on in my driveway when i get the LC100 back and they said "yep, that would be best".

i'm due for my 70,000KM service this week....(i'm at 72Ks but hey).

anyone want me to update this thread after i unbolt my skid plates and get an Aussie service or not?
let me know
cheers
peter

All I can say is it's sad there is little to nothing out there for the 100 in several areas. Especially sad when the new FJC came out and all the sudden there's gobs of aftermarkets for it, and the 100 still suffers from lack of products.

Man-A-Fre and Specter both offer practically everything under the sun for all models, except the 100. That kind of ticks me off. Bud Built offers a full skid setup for the FJC, and nothing for the 100.

Would like to see full underbelly protection with some serious skid plates for the 100...... Something like the 4+ skids offered by MAF for the FJC which are 1/4" thick steel. Now that's some tough stuff.

Hey guys, in reference to the 100 Series skid group buy, my name is Dorel Maller, owner of Rasta4x4USA. Whomever is interested in purchasing the skid, drop me an E-mail with your name, City and Zip so I will know how many to hold for you guys and also to provide you with shipping rates. Here are answers to some of the questions that were posted. The skid has a service opening, you do not need to remove the skid when servicing the car. The skid does fit the 100 series with IFS front suspension. The skid was never installed with a different drop kit. You would need to do some modifications. The difference between the 100, 120 and 125. The 120 is long wheel base European model, the 125 is the same but short wheel base. The skid plate does fit the 100 series gasoline model. If we can get at least 5 people to purchase these skid plate, the price will be $390. Rasta4x4USA just recently started distributing for the U.S. The first container of goods was FJ parts, a second container with Land Cruiser parts is scheduled to depart Israel towards the end of the week and scheduled for arrival within 3-4 weeks. Please let me know if anyone has anymore questions. My E-mail address is orders@rasta4x4usa.com.

I have my own diff drop installed, so I have decided to attack this the only way I know. Diving in with both feet. Starting out with a 4 foot square piece of T6061 1/8 plate. I'll take pictures as I go along. I'll be starting on this Monday or Tuesday.

Isn't that a little thin? 1/8 " is 3,2 mm. Most skid plates I've seen here, even for vehicles smaller and lighter than a 100, are either 3mm steel or 6 mm aluminium alloys.

Is the price you mention for the full set? And, I know you answered this above, but I just want to be sure, this WILL fit the US 100, right?

If so, put me down for a set.

The 100 series offers only a front skid plate. the 120/125 has a complete set. If there is enough demand we will design a complete set. yes it will fit the US 100. Drop me an E-mail with your name, City and Zip and I will add you to the list and supply you with shipping rates.

I need to clear something up. The 100 series currently offers the front skid plate only. It covers the engine, I posted a picture and in the picture there is also a gear plate installed, the gear skid is no longer available. With enough demand we will make a complete set but currently it is the front skid plate only! Sorry for any confusion, I did not make it clear after posting that picture.

That is still the plan. We have the belly plate 99% done. We needed to make sure it clears all the sliders we produce. We are shooting for production versions of the belly plate by Moab, as well as prototypes of the 2nd and 3rd plates.

I don't really sit here and laugh, I sit here and figure out how to get everything done :D
