Hello 200 series community,

Who knows of a solution to this issue? Stock mudlaps have been removed to make clearance for larger tires. I'll be removing the running boards soon and replacing them with sliders, and I would love something as minimal as possible. Is there a thread on this topic that I haven't seen?

When I had my wrx, some people adapted/cut up generic truck mudflaps, or rubbermaid type bin plastic, cutting boards, etc to DIY "rally" style mudflaps. Also iirc there was someone on here making/selling removable mudflaps. I can't find the thread, and don't remember if it was front and rear or rear only.

I had rally armor on my mazdaspeed3. Great product. Looks like they have limited Toyota offerings as well.

Search for Subaru Outback mudflaps. They are rally style but of high quality material and are larger size.
You can then adapt them to your needs.
There are some brands like Gorilla that can work with you to get a custom set if you send them a template.
I have a modified/oversized set on my Outback. They are great and look sick on my classic 09 Obk. There is nothing that passes them, the paint is very happy.

They have since been discontinued. :frown: I could use a set about now.

I miss my ms3. Bought one new in '07 and traded it in 6 months after going through 2 turbos and 3rd on its way out.

But yes, like bubbazr2 mentioned.. those are the only custom ones I remember seeing on here as of recent.

What about modifying the factory flaps?

The factory flaps were recycled a few years ago - I no longer have them. I wonder if anyone here has modified them to work?

Here's an example of how I did mine. Though with the amount of poke you have, it might need more of an overfender in that area.

Agree the offset isn’t helping. If you’re not set on staying with current wheel choice there may be a balance to be found to move them inboard with more offset and still stay off the KDSS/sway.

What size tires ?
Do you know The offset of the wheels?

285 R70 w/zero offset. I love my tire/wheel setup, so I'm not interested in changing that.

@TeCKis300 can you recall what generic flap brand you got?

I have these sitting on the bench right now.

They are rigid, have a little bit of flex. A quick mock up the other day proves they are large enough.

Similar dimensions as @TeCKis300 shows in his photo.

I have to do a brake job in the coming weeks, that’s when I’ll get them all sorted.

Curious did you just trace the OEM ones? Any idea how much overhang past the side steps you have? Also looks like you have them and the wheel well liner pushed in a bit?

I followed a lot of your other home brew things so appreciate it! You have been a great resource.

I used cardboard aided design (CAD) to dial in the profile. You're right, these don't fit in the same way as OEM as I've had to inset them to clear 37s. I eyeballed them to overhang to the side about 1".

The flaps come as a set of 4 and I only needed 2. Extras and honestly cheap enough so give it a whirl.

EDIT, I was able to use modded stock flaps with 35s if this helps
