My edgestar died on me the first day offroad. Not sure why. They have a great return policy and the company was great to deal with. Overall a good experience except the thing dying on me. It was a dirty clothes hamper for the rest of the trip.
Beno good luck.
Just to bump this back up with some more data on the Edgestar:
I've done 4 trips with this thing, the longest being 3 days.
I would not recommend this fridge for other than things like:
1. Day trips/picnics
2. Weekend trips
3. Non-hot days
This fridge is a nice "starter" fridge is what I would like to call it. It works for the price that you get it at.
The build quality is ok. Not great--I've already rattled screws out of it, broken a handle, and broken the DC cord (not fun trying to fix).
The customer service has been good in terms of trying to get me the parts I've broken, but not great. The first time I called to order a new handle (within 30 days), they sent me an AC power outlet. The second time I got the handle, but it was the wrong handle. I tried getting a new DC power cord but it is back ordered for at least 60 days. So I made my own.
In the heat, the compressor just does not handle hotter ambient temps. It would cycle consistently, then stay on and still not keep things in the 33-45 degree range where I like things to be at in a fridge. The NorCold never had issues with this.
In the end, this is a nice 2nd fridge to have around the shop, or for weekenders, or for fall/winter trips where the compressor doesn't have to stay on for long periods of time because of cooler ambient temps.
So, I'm still waiting for my NorCold to get fixed.....
