I am freaking out now!!!! I have to have an E-Brake cable to pass Tech at Cruise Moab 08 in just 3 weeks and mine is broken!!!!!

The cable is seized in the sleeve and will not budge in either direction. :bang:

I don't have the $$$ to buy a new assembly and I can not fix this one:mad:

Anyone have a used one that works and want to sell to me real cheap?

x2 on the diesel soak. Usually the cable will seize where the sleave has a metal end crimped on. The diesel soak may take a week or so to penetrate and loosen things up. You can check it every coupla days and flex the assembly to work the diesel into the cable.
I'm replaceing mine now that I got them freed up. I'll use them until the new ones arrive.

Rick

anyone else thinking that this is a safety item and should be fixed properly?

If you've got the $$'s to go to Moab, can't afford a cable?

Nobody owns Moab. Perhaps you will not be part of the group, but you can still go if you really wanted to.

That said, you should really just go get you a new ebrake cable. It's not wise to go wheeling without one.

I agree with you both. More than anything I was looking outside of the for sale section for a source for another cable, or just complaining. If I have to I will bite the bullet and buy a new one, but I really don't want to spend that kind of cash. From what I can tell on $OR's site, I will be looking at aver $200 for a new one. :frown: I needed that money for gas to get to Moab.

are you positive it's the cable and not the levers at the drums?

my levers were siezed and would not release.
i had someone take them apart (syver)and grind them down so they had more clearance.
no sticking anymore.

I took a look at that, but it is the cable. :frown:

AND SHOULDN'T YOU BE CALLING ME RIGHT ABOUT NOW?

i had to replace my complete cable in feb. it was $95 at the local toyota dealer and took 3 days to get. just doesn't come with the clip sleeves for the drum lever pins. i don't know whos charging 200????

Thanks for that heads up. I will call CDan on monday and see what he can do for me. $95 is a lot better than $200.

guess they dont allow a line lock in tech inspection....

What did Dirty Toadette have to say about this?

Not quite sure where you are coming from with that question :meh:, but the honest answer is:

She will let me spend what ever it takes to make the rig right. :steer: She has always been that way, that is one of my favorite things about her. Nothing better than a wife that says "if that is what it is going to cost to fix it right then why are we even talking about it, JUST FIX IT!"

She and I argue over who loves our 60 more (I do honey :flipoff2: ). If we ever got a divorce we would argue over nothing except the 60

It's always good to hear what the Mrs. thinks, that's all. Mine is the same way except she wants the nice cars in the garage, not the 40!

Got a brand new one from CDan for $78 and change delivered to my door! :bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

That's what I'm talking about. $OR is a LAST resort. The first call should always be to Dan.

This is excellent information. I LOVE THIS SITE! :D Is there a website to check on what this "Cruiser Dan" has available or is there just a number you have to call him at?
