Easy guys. If this turns into a flame thread I'm gonna be PO'd. I've got my big boy pants on and can take a little good natured ribbing from Dutchy.

Send me that Kimber and I'll see if it fits.

I have a M&P 9mmPro. Kinda big gun. I'll check its fit when I get back to town.

Sorry for my part of editorializing & if I "mucked up" your thread any - I've just seen enough of OT to know Dutchy wasn't making comments to be taken at face value or to add any true situational logistics advice & frankly, he's got a right to his opinion, but when he acts as if his views makes him superior to us who choose to carry, it gets old quick. For the rest of your thread I'll ignore anything he feels the need to express, should I need to add anything more here that's pure tech on your install.

Haha, I don't doubt your honesty any - but if i send you my Kimber I have a hunch I may not have the problem of where I'll be fitting it again anytime soon - I've had a few 1911's & so far that Kimber is my favorite, despite it being nothing fancy (by Kimber standards anyhow) aside from having the Tridium target sights instead of the standard 3 dots like say an average Sig 226.

If you could do as you offered & give me a test fit on your S&W, I'd appreciate it - no hurry, either post here or PM me - whichever.

Thanks Hoosier!

I just bought one of these. I was going to replace my console with a Tuffy. Now I won't have to.

:D it was a joke not a gun disccussion at all..I just pictured the situation and thought it would look funny. Offcourse I know he will not put his gun there.

@Linus you are talking about a discussion from a long time ago. The word superior is completeley out of place, airing your feelings like this over a joke says more about you then me. Many people , many different opinion. No more, no less.

Sorry for the mishap but it was meant in a good way Hoosier;)

I know you're just teasing, but to be clear I have no fantasy of drawing from the safe in an emergency. The safe is for securing valuables and does not replace my holster (unless I'm in a place I can't carry). Nor does it mean I can relax my awareness of my surroundings.

My dutch brother is just pissed because the right to own firearms is not protected by law!:crybaby:

The M&P 9Pro (5" barrel, 8.25" long, 5.5" tall, full grip) will fit - but only under 2 conditions...

1 - with the mag removed
or 2, with the bottom carpet lining of the safe removed.

The limiting factor is depth. You can angle the barrel in pretty easily, but the length of the grip is what matters. If you lay the gun in at an angle, the grip will fit, but only under one of the two conditions above.

It's close. YMMV either way, depending on size and shape of your gun.

looks like a perfect fit...what are the interior dimensions?...wondering if my 7.5" x 6" astra a100 will fit...seems like it will...but diagonally

Interior is 8 1/8" long, 3 7/8" wide, 4 3/4" deep with the carpet.

Outside dimensions are 9.5 x 5 x 6, so looks like the interior carpet takes up about a half inch of space per pad, and you lose some depth from the thickness of the walls and door. Door is 3/16". The bottom carpet is easily removable and could be replaced with something thinner. I haven't tried removing the side carpet. Also, the lock hangs into the interior quite a ways on one side, as you can see from the photos in the first post.

thanx DAD... it may be a bit tight for mine.....

Yep, it was too good to be true - 8 5/8" on the Kimber, but at the price, concealability, and security I bet I'll grab one & just keep a 226 & 2022 & the baby Glock for packarounds - it's the target model Kimber anyhow & I love it at the range, but would hate to have to give it up temporarily if it got used.

Thanks Hoosier!

I know I'll have one & just fiddle with it & see if the K will fit diagonally & such, no matter what it'll be nice not to just be ditching one under the floormats.

Get the glock 27, it has more punch than the 26 and is the same size

I just got mine. Plan to install it tomorrow. Coupled with my Clifford Security System a smash and grab is going to get pretty difficult.

This is really a nice product. If you are interested, you won't be disappointed.

G19 and G22 fit perfectly

Found mine locally, and for less than if I paid for shipping. Easy to drill and install in 30 minutes. Made a cardboard template for the holes. Test fit for Glock 19 and Glock 22, and both fit fine if slide-down and diagonal in the safe. Worth every penny for locking up the valuables, and transport when needed.

Hey Brad I have a Para-Ordnance 9mm hopefully it will fit, even if doesn't this would be good to have if just for valuables. Thanks for posting.

I just ordered mine, : ))

Originally I had just installed this with the longer bolts through the console mounting bracket. That's secure, but still allowed the safe to wiggle just a very tiny bit - probably because the bottom of the console acts like a spacer between the safe and bracket.

So I used the two forward mounting holes in the bottom of the safe as a template to drill into the floor of the truck. I then bolted the safe to the floor through those holes, using 2.5 inch fender washers over neoprene washers underneath the truck. I'm hoping the neoprene reduces the risk of water entry into the holes.

The two bolts protrude under the truck just aft of the transfer case, in an area that's wide open and easily accessible from underneath.

So now there are 4 bolts total holding the safe to the body. No longer any wiggle at all.

Mine seems really tight with the two bolts. Will see how it does after a 3,000 mile trip coming up. If more mount-points are needed I think I will use some metric nutserts that I have lying around, and seal up with some FIPG. Good tip on using the existing front holes as a template.
