Whole or parts?
Grandma's 1992/3 Pontiac POS Grand Am has officially eaten its second head gasket in only 133,000 miles. (Yes its low miles!) The oil looks like hand lotion, its kinda cool! I talked some sense into her and found her an 2003 Toyota Avalon to replace it. Anyway she gave me her old car for scrap metal to pay me for the time and money I had into getting the new car for her.
SOOooooo, this thing still runs and drives just fine, its an automatic with the 4cyl 2.0 liter engine I believe. She's been driving it this way for over a month and it only slightly overheated on her once! The car is straight, clean title, interior & seats are good, paint is peeling off like dandruff in a hurricane. Has some quality features like hand crank roll up windows (but has power locks, go figure), cassette with both bass and treble adjustments...and the list goes on.
If anyone wants some parts off of it they are welcome to take stuff for free, if someone for some ungodly reason wants the whole thing I want $200 for it which is what I'll get when I scrap it. I will be keeping some various parts off it unless someone takes it all. You could gamble and just replace the head gasket but really the engine probably needs a complete rebuild. I'm scrapping it in exactly two weeks and the closer it get to the scrap date the more likely its gonna get used as a drunken RTI ramp for my PIG which means the body will no longer be straight. :pig:

I may have accidentally sold my 4runner (cash talked), probably a year before I was planning on it....ANYWAY gonna dump a bunch of money into the pig to make it a DD. Just gonna go to a TBI 350 and a HD automatic OD for now.

WANTED:
1991 Suburban 2500 automatic (has the elusive passenger drop transfer-case and 4l80e)
OR
Dana 44 full width driver drop disc brake (Ford) AND any pre 95 3/4-1 ton suburban or GM truck.

If I can find the Dana 44 my options open up immensely for the donor rig, if not there is a 91 Suburban in Reno and another in the Portland area that I could possibly get. Don't care about the body obviously.

Don't put a Dana 44 in there! You can make your current axle a driver side drop... The easy way is to buy a custom housing but you can cut off the front pumpkin cover, spin it 180* and weld it back on. You will need to make notches for the ring gear, then (basically) do everything you would for a SOA: Weld on spring purches and a cut-n-turn. I know you have the skill and the time to do that...

I already have a Dana 44 in there out of a Chevy. ;>) Landcruiser axles are too narrow for my liking and when I had 40's on it there was no way I could clear the spring packs. My D44 already has a flat top knuckle drilled and tapped with crossover steering, locker, 5.13 gears, new HD u joints, new calipers and rotors, stainless extended brake lines plus its the big bearing version. All of it can be swapped over to a Ford version as long as its not the high pinion ...although I'd probably just buy new gears and still use the high pinion version if I found one.

Insulin

My son Bobby is in need of a vial of Lantus insulin. Because it's his first purchase under new insurance they want $198 and he will be out in 3 days. Anyone with a vial they could spare now and I'll replace later would really help. PM here or call and l/m at house # 541-727-7274. Thanks- Moby.:)

Insulin Problem solved, no worries. Chris.:cheers::bang:

Petersons 4 wheel drive and offroad back issues

I have about 10-15 years of Petersons Off Road magazines that I am going to throw out. If anyone wants them, just come and get them in Medford before I trash them. Email me at fj40harris@hotmail.com

I have a transfer-case out of a 1999 Suburbarn. It was making a clanging noise driving from Ashland so I helped the owner swap it out. When we inspected we found one of the ball bearings split in half! I have never seen a ball bearing split perfectly but it was. Is $50 too much to ask for it? I'll have to check what model # it is.
Thanks and may God bless us all,
Michael

Chris, Glad all worked out for Bobby.

Selling a car to a guy and took some scrap metal for part of the payment. Just hauled home this beauty its a 86 ford victoria LTD and surprisingly it has a fuel injected Ford 5.0 under the hood and a auto trans. Its bone stock, I think he said the engine was tired or something but I can find out for sure. I've got the battery on charge now to see if it 'll start. Anyway this would make for a sweet drivetrain swap for somebody. I'm not a Ford guy so if anyone wants it for the price of scrap they can have it. I'm thinking $300 is about what they'll pay at the yard.

Holy crap it runs! blew some blue smoke and has an exhaust leak but it didn't sound too bad. Also goes into gear. I don't love it enough to take it off the trailer though. I have an email to the previous owner asking what was wrong with it.

Does it have a title? I'm thinking I need it if you do.
