You want a straight trade, right? I mean it doesn't sound like you're looking for a trade up deal where you'd put your truck and a bunch of money into getting the truck you want.
How did you manage to get that truck smogged, BTW?
I'm still going through the Smog Referee deal, but the guy who did the main install is handling it until it is completed. Even if you address an issue that they might have, they still do a full inspection from scratch each time. The Ref told me that it's usually a 3-6 inspection process. We are on #3.

No biggie. The truck is solid and I just have to please the all powerful Refs.
I want a straight across trade because things work out easier that way. If the truck goes out of California, the Smog Refs could care less as the truck will not be in California. The emissions numbers are all good thus far with the exception of the hydrocarbons, but we can easily adjust for that. I just installed a new EGR which will likely fix that issue. The Refs are mainly looking to see that everything matches the original Chevy specs.
For instance, they took issue with the new vapor canister that was mounted on the passenger side in the stock Toyota bracket, whereas the original Chevy spec unit is on the driver's side.

I convinced him that it really didn't matter where it was as long as it was the same distance, and the same hosing for the application. He had to think about that for awhile before agreeing. It's those types of issues that the Refs bring up, that make this an interesting process. I'm almost there with what they want though.
DMV just keeps issuing registration extensions until the final is complete, so it's a daily drivable rig. The tags are paid through next year and they will mail the sticker when the Refs are properly satisfied with the correct offering at the Smog Altar.
I am currently driving a company van and just need a better truck to pull my hydraulic dump trailer and tractor for my Building Contractor work on the side. My 1974 F-250 Supercab with a 360 is tired and I need a diesel to get the job done. I'd like to stick with 4wd as I am usually out in the muck and the mud loading equipment or dumping material out of the 7x14 trailer.
Thanks for the responses so far.
