who in canada quotes miles..... but your right i do sound like an idiot for asking so many questions...

sorry, thanks for the pics.

Colin

actually, I could understand questioning me twice if I had said km's, but I don't see what anyone has to gain by going to the trouble of mentally converting miles on the odometer to KM and then reporting the higher KM number as miles.

if you try and buy a us cruiser here in Canada you will find many sellers quote the mileage but do not mention it is miles in the hopes you will not notice. I can also recall a couple of phone calls where the ad said kms, but the guy admitted when pressed it was miles and that he forgot and would fix the ad. of course the same ad came out the week after.

sorry, i totally forgot that this in an american truck... ive been wrong about 9 times on this thread..... no wonder im a rookie

Finally found one! Thanks to everyone who responded. :)

Wow! Nice truck!
So where can you get an engine for that?
And for how much!? $

You can get an engine from many of the importers. They would actually have to import the engine for you though and they're not cheap. Probably somewhere around $4000-$5000 shipped and landed. It would depend on a lot of different factors.

There had been some local interest in putting a domestic gas engine in it as well. Also, I BELIEVE (don't quote me on this) that the 2LT-II was an option in this truck, so if you can find one of those engines then that might fit as well.

My understanding is that this truck cannot be imported to the US. It does not meet the 25 year rule that you guys have for imports and we're not interested in parting it out. Sorry...

how hard would that be to import to the US?

The 3L is supposed to be a bullet-proof engine. How did it get seized? Unless the crank is bent it can probably be rebuilt I'd guess.

Yes the 3L is supposed to be bulletproof. It appears to be one of those 1 in a million type chances. No one is sure exactly what happen, but the engine was starved for oil and that's what did it. The oil levels were fine and the truck had regular oil changes. For some reason the oil was going through the relief valve and not getting to the rest of the engine.

My understanding from the shop is that the crank is broken and the engine also threw a rod.
