IMO, if you're on a limited budget you'd better deal with someone reputable, close by, who has Cruisers you can inspect yourself. If you can afford to loose your money, you can wire it to a bank account in Japan and hope that some unknown person will buy a bulletproof LC for you. If your budget isn't limited, you can afford the unknown repairs required to make it bulletproof if it arrives.
I took the risk, and bought my Cruiser at auction using Provide Cars. I did get the Cruiser I bid on, and it was in the stated condtion, but it is many $ away from being bulletproof or in the condition that a reputable importer would provide. I don't think that they ripped me off, but I'll never know. They don't know Cruisers; they can translate an inspection form and if you provide a picture of a diff lock switch, they can tell you if the vehicle has one. They don't test drive the vehicle for you.
G'luck, becuase luck is what you need if you don't have an expert working for you overseas. I hope that I got lucky, but won't know for a few more months as I slowly get repairs completed, tyres replaced and maintenance baselined.

1997 FZJ80 $14k
I am selling my 80 and thought I would see if any of you guys are interested.
1997 around 126K miles. 46K were mine and mostly highway.
Dark red with tan leather interior
OME 2" lift,
BFG AT 50% tread,
has the factory lockers, but they are stuck (probably just need cleaned up)
has the third row seats.
Tranny and radiator were flushed within 2000K miles
Changed the head gasket, had a valve job and all the other stuff done at Quinlins on the south side of indy. I have driven it to Charleston, SC and back since.
All the heater hoses are good.
New belts
A few scrapes and scratches, nothing bad. One small ding/ scrape on the tailgate. No rust.
Factory trailer hitch/towing package.
Leathers in OK shape, no tears, just some cracks, but not all the way through. The rest of the interior is in good shape, the floor mats are stained but the carpet is still nice.
Then alternator is starting to make some noise.
It has a safari rack on it now, but that stays. It will go back on the FJ60.
I changed all the AC O-rings in the fall and had it recharged
I also forgot to mention that it has new 100 series pads on the front and new pads and rotors on the back. Within maybe 1500mi
This is a nice truck, drives good, I personally think that the 80s are the nicest cruiser that toyota built. Very trail capable and will do 85mph+ with the AC on comfortably
I am selling it due to the fact that we dont drive it very often, and I am hoping to kill the credit card and still have enough left over to finish the 40 in the garage.
I can shoot some pictures if anyone is interested, I am asking $14K which seems about the going price. If anyone is interested or knows of someone interested let me know.

jjbodean1970, The solinoids are stuck so the locker wont engage. They are open right now. When I first got it they took awhile to engage and it got slower and slower until they didnt work. I have read that the solinoids can get gummed up or dirty and not engage. My guess is the people that had it before me (the first 5years of its life) never ever used the lockers so they are gummed up. They have worked in the past, I only ever wheeled it twice, the first time they worked, the second time they wouldnt engage. My guess is the solinoids just need pulled off and cleaned up/out and relubed. I think the trucks with lockers also have limited slip when it is not locked.

The color is white with grey interior. I will snap some pics today and send them. I have no idea on the owners, I bought it a year ago and have put about 10k on it. It has been my dd and has not had any problems since I got it.

This will be my daily driver, so it needs to get me from point A to point B without saying three Hail Mary's and an Our Father. NO FRAME ROT OR MAJOR BODY ROT PLEASE!!!! Tires passed state inspection but will need to be replaced soon. In recent months the bike was serviced with new brakes, new spark plugs, new cam belts, valve adjustment, K&N air filter, synthetic oil, oil filter, and fuel filter. The dent in the tank is the only damage done by a previous owner.
Forgot to mention that bike comes with a large AGV flat black helmet and AGV mesh riding jacket with body armor.
