Wanted: Info on Importing from Japan to Canada

Looking for hard facts on importing LCs from Japan to Canada.

Links to best used car dealers?
Best auctions?
Best shipping companies?
Japan inspection companies?
Japan paperwork required?
Canada customs paperwork?
Resources for this info?
Horror stories?

We need a new forum heading!

Any help would be appreciated!

Ron
Looking for a bulletproof LC on a limited budget

If I were you I would check out www.luxuryimports.com and talk to Wayne. There is alot of miss information/headaches importing on your own. Also outback may be a good source as well, BUT Wayne's is closer ..............Good Luck

Luxury Imports

Wayne is not going to share his contacts and info on importing from Japan. That is his business, and I hear he is very good at it. But it makes no sense for him to pass along the keys to his income. Unfortunately, I cannot afford one of his imported and inspected trucks. I am sure they are worth what he is asking, I just don't have the coin.

Since I have more time and energy than money, I am looking for info on "doing it myself."

I think there's a '97 on ebay right now that matches that description - except 105K...

Camera is at work so I won't have pics till tomorrow. To the two guys in Orlando or anyone in the area.. you are more than welcome to come see it at anytime.

I'll check it out. Thanks ATLcrusher. :)

I checked this Cruiser out. Had like 4 pos and some body parts have been repainted. Thanks for the info.

There are 2 black and locked 80's in my neck of the woods right now. Both are priced too high IMO but PM me if you want the details. Mileage is 110K on one and 75K on the other...

pm'd you.

Another option I've found for importing from Japan:

http://www.terra2imports.ca

This guy brings them in and off the dock, his prices are in Canadian dollars, landed cost. Not bad prices. You then pick the vehicle up from him in Vancouver. Might be the way to go.

Of course, unlike Wayne at Luxury Imports, no maintenance, no guarantees.

Ain't life fun?

79 Troopy for sale

I met a guy while traveling in Savannah last week that has a 79 Troopy he wants to sell. He brought it in through the port and was driving it to Thomasville, GA where he lives. Some of the specifics that I can remember are:

RH drive
from Australia
set up for camping
2F gas or LPG
header
Full floater rear axle
Body was a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being perfect.

PM me for more pictures. Call him if interested. He said something like $18K-ish. I am posting this for him as he didn't know anything about MUD. John Baily 508-726-7693

40 & 55 for sale - combo

I am new to Mud so please bear with me. I have a 64 FJ40 and a 76 FJ55 for sale in middle TN, near Nashville. Details:
40 has nothing in the engine bay but the block, brake and clutch masters, radiator and steering gear. Has hard top and doors. It is bone stock in all respects. Passenger side floor pan gone to rust due to a bag of fertilizer stored there for some time, as I understand from PO. Seats are there but very rough. Body and frame still pretty solid.
55 has strong running rebuilt 2F, stock 4 sp, scout PS, Powertrax in the rear, 33 BFG M/T with about 5K on them. About 80% left. Frame is solid. Not a straight body panel on it except the hood. Since the 40 has very little rust, my plan was to swap the 2F drivetrain, axles, and scout PS into the 40 but it's more than I can tackle right now. It would make a great project for someone with the space and time, neither of which I have. $2500 for both. I'll post pics of both if that's allowed.
