Yeah, but I hate the 80 series ring and pinion size...

Even in a front axle, being reverse cut (assumption) most of the nasty weight put on the front end is while backing up under power.

The diference in my concept are, if you keep both 9.5" 3rd members, you are able to swap it front or rear .. in a extreme situation.

30 spline longs ;)

Tapage, which ring gears are 9.5"????

do all toyota axels the have the same core. Like are the trucks the same core as a 60, just shorter? I want to order some axel russes from this company that makes the for toyota trucks, I am wondering if I order them, if they will be universal. i know that I dont need them, but its a looks thing. They have the toyota emblem cut into them and they are only $30. Its an over truss not an under.

Now that is the only way to go in the rear....

I prefer not to use sand, it is a bit abrasive for my tastes ;)

9.5 ring .. 8 7/8 is standard in 40 and 60 series .. and rear 80 series.

Still confused, 40's and 60's have a 8 7/8" and a 80 has a smaller ring gear than that.

Where does the 9.5 come from?

Rear 80 is the same as a 40, front 80 is mini stuff.

at least I think the rear 80 is the same size as a mini

Nah, you are right, I meant that the rear was the same size as a 40 not a mini

Front is mini sized.. And reverse cut

There is some confusion point about Jap denomination of the ring on a TLC.

Both are the same .. 8 7/8 and 9.5. Where start or are based the 8 7/8 I'm don't now .. but I take in my hands my olds 3.70 and 4.11 and both rigs measure 9.5"

that is because you are measuring the top of the ring gear.

That size will differe dependong on the gear ratio...

I know what you mean now..

I have some cruiser stuff and 14 bolt/D60 stuff laying around, I'll try to get pics tonight
