I am in the process of replacing an engine in a 1991 FJ80. My replacement engine came with a factory alternator. I would like to use it if possible (I know it has low miles). The truck's wiring harness has an adapter plug that will fit the old alternator, but won't fit the new alternator. I can remove it, but don't want to create any issues (if removed, the black end will fit the replacement engine's alternator). Anyone know what this adapter plus is for? Both my truck and the donor are 1991's.

Alternator attached to the replacement engine (sorry...had to use a mirror to get the shot).

I'm not sure I see the problem? If you remove the adapter with the white plug, leaving the black connector and that black connector plugs into the replacement engines OEM alternator, where is the issue? Just remove the adapter and plug it in...
