I am trying to replace both the top and bottom cables to the accelerator. After a day of looking I am coming up empty handed. I have several dealerships nearby but 2 of the 3 could not get the kick down cable and the 3rd parts counterman didn't even want to look up anything as old as 1988 and blew me off.
SOR? No luck but an outrageously priced cable that looked to be the pedal to top linkage cable.
Anyone had to replace one lately? If so do you remember where you got the kick down cable?
Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up but I had no luck at all at Rock. And thanks for the e/m. I will put that to good use.

Onur is one of the most knowledgeable cruiser parts guys I know and trust. When he says its part # XZY.... IT'S #XYZ and IT FITS CORRECTLY...

Local parts boys are IDIOTS and sell you whatever and hope they are off when you return the part and are pissed off.

You are right about the local parts countermen. I was disappointed. I have never been treated like that. I sent Onur an e/m. Like you said, I want the correct parts and want them to fit.
Take care!

beno, thanks for the response and info. It is people like you who are keeping me interested in this older FJ. Great truck, getting parts is not so great. Big help.

Everyone on here has been straight up cool, and a special thanks to bend and to Shes Mad for be an honest hombre. Got my cable and it has been cleaned lubed and installed and I am back in action. (I know it doesn't sound like it but yes I am still talking about the FJ62)
Thanks again fellas!

Hey Saucerman. Was this the same issue you had? As you can see below the bottom cable is not retracting. Problemo.

That is precisely the same issue I had. When removed the cable showed to be frayed. It was not frayed much either but enough to keep it retracting every time.

Hi Jon. I do not know, but if you don’t get an answer here, I’ll bet the guys at ACC Garage can tell you and may even be able to help source the parts. You can email them Info@accgarage.com. This is a good LC shop just outside of Atlanta. I use these guys anytime I get over my skis with a mechanical issue. Good luck.
