FJ62 headlight upgrade: need simple LED replacement — is there one?

Hey all,

Sorry if this is a basic or annoying question, but I’ve been driving around half-blind for about 5 years and finally need to fix it. I’ve read through a bunch of threads and I’m still not totally clear on the simplest path forward.

I’m looking to brighten the headlights on my FJ62 while keeping a mostly stock look. From what I’ve seen, the 2x Maxxima LED 4x6 High Beam Sealed Replacement Lamp H4651 has come up (but could not find on eBay) and the J.W. Speaker LED Headlights Model 28800 Evolution 2 keep coming up (but expensive maybe worth it?). Are these truly plug-and-play on a 1988 FJ62, or do I need to do some kind of conversion or wiring change?

I’m in Costa Mesa, California and would really prefer an all-in-one solution that my mechanic (not a Land Cruiser specialist/ or even a Toyota guy/ no internet guy) could install, since I’m clearly out of my depth on the electrical side.

Any guidance or “do this, buy this” advice would be hugely appreciated—please take pity on me and my dim headlights. Thanks, Liz

Are you looking for new headlights that are classy, very functional, and made by an OEM provider? Then check out the Philips LED 4x6s.

Starting off, these retain the reflector appearance while maintaining a very nice cut off line.
The beam is pretty wide and the throw is excellent for night time driving. There's not a ton of foreground to wash out your vision.
With that being said, I did take some photos of the high beams they're currently aimed close to eachother but each individual hi beam has a pretty good "hot spot" that is easy to aim.
This means that you can get a nice long distance...

Did this require any additional wire adaptors? About to do same thing with wife’s newly acquired 62 and read the threads but this seems like good option and Torfab showing out of stock.

I used the Holley adapters but custom wired it so that all 4 lights would go bright and low beam. If you used them stock it would be simpler
