showed up to work to find a few little goodies waiting for me on my desk. hopefully ill be able to make my original tach work with the dakota digital diesel to gas tach interface. my injection pump had a crank type sensor so they said this should work. if not i might have to rig up a flywheel sensor but don’t really want to go to all that trouble if i don’t have to.

yeah while it’s apart. i have some on the temp slide and i don’t like having some LED and some incandescent so i’ll change them all out to have consistency. i’ve got about 15 little jobs to do but all of them take time and most will happen at the same time making one big job. oh well maybe in a few weeks i’ll have a full saturday i can dig in!

finally getting a few little things done. i put my fender aprons on from trailtailor. fit very nice. ill have to watch the clips though. the rubber is thicker than stock and the clips are mostly holding well. i had to trim the rubber in one area to get it to stay. if they start popping ill rivet then on.

yes i’m from canada soninhave hockey stuff lying around

big push to do this is my intercooler heat exchanger is sitting on the frame and is exposed to the wheel well without those aprons in place. i’m afraid a rock or something will perforate it. then i’d be in trouble.

also trying to figure out my tach wiring for the dakota digital converter.

also i’m still waiting for my stereo to be fixed so i can pull the dash apart just one time. it’ll likely be three of four times in reality.

i pulled the glass out of an old rough mirror i have. the glass and backing plate came out well but it broke off two post inside that support the mirror. i fear i’ll break them off my mirror on the truck. then i’ll really be screwed. ill leave it until i have another replacement i think.

i hate wiring. i just got my stereo back and now there are some shorts in my doors i have to rewire. i also am trying to wire my tach. for only six wires it sure isn’t going well. lastly i wired in my upper road hose temp sender and my digital multi gauge stopped working all together. groan!! once i’m done fixing all the problems and finish adding all my extra accessories i’m going to be the “PO” we all roll our eyes at. funny how that happens. it all makes sense going in and looks clean for the moment but as it has to be moved around to get at something else it starts to look like the rats nest we all hate.:bang:

i got one and a half issues sorted. i got my deck working so again have music but one speaker that was a little glitchy isnt working at all. ill have to call the shop i bought them from. changed the wires to it and still no go. i wonder if it’s faulty. i did get my digital gauge working again. new power source fixed that problem. it now turns on when i turn the ignition on and not just when i turn my lights on so that’s an improvement. not i just have to orogrammit to read temp instead of lambda or AFR. still no joy on my tach though.

got a few things put back together tonight. my stereo has been working well except for the car play function. i realized that i had the wrong usb plugged in so i had to pull the dash again to do that. but now everything works well. i also got my new tweeter replaced and installed. lastly i finally wired up my 12v accessory to the trunk so i can plug in a cooler etc. i’ve also been driving around with no passenger seat while waiting to make sure all the wiring for my stereo works. it’ll be nice to have the interior back the way it’s supposed to be.

there are a few things left i wanted to get done while it was all apart. they’ll have to wait for a while.

pulled the deck today. all connections are fine. i even had a short conversation with my wife through the hands free today. that tells me it works just not consistently. i noticed tonight that there is a new firmware update that came out since i took the deck in to get fixed. i’m going to update the deck and see if that fixes things.

i also played a little with my speedo cable. it’s not working. i have the ratio adapter and i think something wasn’t engaging right in that part of things. seems to be hooked up right now. ill see on my way to work tomorrow. fingers crossed

lastly i ordered a knuckle tool some door seals and wiper clips from jason at trailtailor. look forward to sealing up my tail gate a little better

edit: stupid deck still won’t work right. i’m getting fed up with it

so fed up i bought a new one today. ill be able to send the broken one off to a more reputable repair shop and then i’ll use it in my 40. at least i have another vehicle that needs a stereo!! this way i won’t have to wait for another three months with no hands free feature. i need it for when i’m on call and it’s been driving me nuts that i have to either stop to talk or risk getting a ticket. this’s take my frustration down a few notches so i can swear at some other accessory that’s not working.:bang:

new mic was all that was needed this time. it had a broken wire so thats fixed. i rerouted it as well this time up inside the headliner and then along the window seal so it’s cleaner looking.

i haven't had much luck with getting a replacement mirror yet but just saw cruiser corp is selling new power mirrors for an fj62. they are a little pricey but considering i have seen used ome ones going for the same price for one mirror as i paid for a set i thought id try them out. they are ordered. hope they work out!

I received an incoming announcement yesterday re the mirrors. Give us a FIRST IMPRESSION when received and when installed. I’m particularly interested in construction (plastic vs. metal), visual clarity and the vibration factor when traveling on down the road? I thought I’d never see a quality replacement for The OEM’s in my lifetime but commend Cruiser Corp. for stepping up to the plate and presenting us with what might be the best alternative yet.
Thanx

slowly but surely working on a new air box. my cone filter is starving the engine so i’m building something that’ll house a duramax filter

i’m pretty happy with it for the most part but some welds are a little ugly. it’s hard to fill a gap in 18 gauge metal and all my cuts are hand made by a grinder
