Hello,
Yesterday I was coming back from Big Sur and at about 1:30hr into the drive the A.T. Oil light came on near the shifter. The drive isn't super strenuous just a couple of long hills on the highway. I noticed the shifter and console were rather hot to the touch. Any thoughts?

Could it possibly be a switch/electronic malfunction?

I had the transmission fluid changed about a month ago.

Thanks!

I have a 1990 62, the AT is well known to run a little hotter than they should. Just about every member on here recommends a separate trans cooler to help. Do a quick search of it, there have been a lot of threads on the topic and how-to's.

I would drive it again until the light comes on, and at that time, shoot the trans. oil pan with an IR thermometer in several places. Get a real temperature value and go from there. But, a oil-to-air cooler, inline with the radiator cooler, is a good idea, as Joe Campos mentioned.
