I liked the grove just past Sherman.

We were planning on driving all the way down to Three Rivers, but things just took longer than we anticipated. Definitely want to go back and spend more time in the area.

We passed several people on the way up Moro and the way back down. I was totally surprised to pop out on top and see no one. Amazing.

So, Cameron wore the same shirt for like 3 days straight in record breaking global climate change heat. And then asked if I wanted one. "Hell yes" any shirt you can wear for 3 days straight is good with me.

He went rogue offering out this without consulting the EAF Police Jury first but it's very seldom that the Quartermaster follow the chain of command.

What can I say... printing the shirts gave me a taste of Bodean's executive powers :grinpimp:

Our original California plan involved starting at Kings Canyon/Sequoia, spending a few days there, and then working our way up the Sierra to Yosemite and then maybe to Lake Tahoe.

I was checking in with CDrew to see if he'd be around for a beer & espresso, and he said we should scrap our plan and go for a weekend trip to Wentworth Springs. He said Steve1 (@MountNGoat) & Tom (@TrickyT) were going (I don't think he had even asked them yet), possibly some others.

He said I could take my pick of his trucks, as long as it wasn't the 62, which had fresh virgin paint, or the 60, which he would be driving.

When discussing our Original Original Plan, before the dates of the Rubithon were shifted due to the record Sierra snowfall, he invited us to come out for a few days of that. Stephanie said, in no uncertain terms, "NO!!!".

However, this trip sounded different, and after showing her food pics from previous trips and assuring her that other wives were going, and mentioning that Tom had a hot shower, she reluctantly agreed.

As the dates got nearer, she was actually looking forward to it.

The day after Sequoia, we made our way up to CDrew's in Sacramento. Tom & his wife were there when we arrived, and promptly left after we all got our hugs to quickly claim good camp sites at Wentworth while we returned the rental Taurus and packed our clothes in the truck, which was already equipped with its own stove and fridge.

The blue 60 has not had the Carport V8 Spa Treatment yet, and does not get in a hurry climbing hills, so we skipped the direct route via 50 (which has several giant climbs), and instead went the back way through Georgetown, where Main Street turns into Wentworth Springs Road.

If you're not familiar with the area, we are roughly working our way from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe (route not entirely accurate)...

Wentworth Springs is actually the start of the Rubicon Trail, just a few thousand feet from Loon Lake, and the location of the Mile 0.0 marker...

I don't know about you, but this just puts me in my happy place. Maybe it was the mild high (Loon Lake is 6400'), or the trees, the cooler temps, or just the fact that we were on a vacation that just kept getting better and better. Maybe it was the combo of everything. In any event, I was experiencing a mild state of euphoria.

While we are airing down at the trailhead, @alvarorb roars up and skids to a stop. He pulls his daughter, Isabel, out of the truck, and she and my daughter become instant buddies.

While there's no snow in sight, and everything is mostly dried out, the trail is pretty much a creek from all the snowmelt.

We splash our way to the camp area where Tom & his wife, Steve1, Mrs. Steve1, and their son @justintpryor have secured the primo real estate next to Gerle Creek. -------> CLICK HERE <-------

Is Tom working those Crab Cakes or Salmon Burgers?

I'm going to need the order form for that Tshirt as well.

We were freakin' SET! As I said earlier, Andy hooked us up with his pimped out 80 series, complete with its own Coleman cooking ensemble & fridge stocked with local craft beers.

Steve1 (who, if you recall, along with Steve2, is married to a pair of hawt sisters), in an effort to out-hospitalitize Andy, furnished this 4 bedroom, 3-1/2 bath tent, along with an air bed for the grown ups, pads for the kids, and sleeping bags for everyone. There were scented candles, chocolates on our pillows, and mood lights in the trees.

To top it off, it was all set up when we got there.

Those were just your garden variety locally-sourced, hand-slaughtered, ethically-tortured hamburgers.

The order form can be obtained from Nolen. Slip him a charcuterie platter when you go in for the bro hug/secret handshake.

Beers are mostly brought for trading. I don't think I consumed more than a few of the ones I picked up.

The first order of business is cracking open the "we made it to camp alive" beers...

...cheers, brohs*
