With two kids ages 10 & 12. I decided to convert the rear whiplash no headrest FJ60 to some headrest safer FJ62 seat back. I bought the 62 seat back locally with headrest and no broken headrest collars.

I did the same swap in my 60 and it works great! Are you doing the 62 bottom also to store the headrests? I did not, but I have the 62 seat pan and foam. If you are near SoCal, you can have them?

Man that's a great idea. I should pull the framework out of my rear seat to take in next time I have a batch of stuff for powder coating.

Both the seats I used had the same brackets and mounts? Must have changed at some point.

All done. Peace of mind of not having rust inside the vehicle. Strange why they didn't even primer the back rest.

Thanks for the offer but no thanks. I have too many other projects to move onto. This one is approved and checked off by the kids and better half.

I did this exact swap except I didn't pc it. I figured it was overkill for something that would be inside but I'm sure in some area it's worse than here in California. I did spray it with some rustoleum primer allover it.

On to the seat belts.

Make sure the hole is threaded from factory. Cut opening bigger than shown

Looks great! This looks like a good upgrade for anyone that uses the backseat frequently.

I'd like to learn more about the seat belts. Are those also sourced from a 62? Can u pls post a pic of the base where the retractor goes?

Thanks for the info

It's not a retractor type from a 62 or any other modern car. The top attaches to the factory threaded hole and the other end attaches to the male portion on the lap belt. It's a Toyota stock part #7303-90A00. I got this from SOR. I wanted to get a 62 retraction type belt but I didn't want to cut any structural metal away. It's a little clumsy getting in and out but I don't sit back there haha.

A set is for one side... Includes shoulder harness and a new lap belt retractor asm. My lap brlt was in need to be replaced so it was a happy surprise. I only bought one. Had to try it out first before I committed to 140.00
