Thinking about putting an fj60 rear axle in the Piggers to match the front, more for making the tires the same width, not so worried about having all 4 disk brakes although that will be nice. From what I understand all 60's had 3.70 gearing (63 was 4.10?) which I like, but I read somewhere that in '85 Toyota changed bolt patterns for the driveline? Can anyone confirm/deny this? I'm running a '90 5 speed, so I don't want to match the original fj55 transmission bolt pattern...

this chart will help you with the flange information because, yes, the fj60 flanges are different than the 55 http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/tech_flange.html

the 60 is not rear disc, so you not caring about 4w disc is good ;)

fj60 had 3.73 stock, 4.11 optional. on the 62s, it went to 4.11 standard. you can always put your fj55 diff in the 60 housing

Kurt, are you lost? Hanging out in the 55 area? That's a little weird.

I've had a few of the old girls you know. Still on the hunt for a clean one. Clean 55 ha! :D

Finding a pig with the whole thing being clean is impossible. You only get half a pig clean and straight at a time...

That sounds about right. To add some pork flavor to the discussion, this is "Big Bear":

Kurt,

That is a beautiful picture. We can't wait to get back to Utah, with the 55, don't know if I could roll up to that edge, like that.

Who is big bear? A little back story maybe?

Big Bear was the name of the FJ55. Never finished the build thread but you can see the start of it here:

It belonged to my pal Sully, he was working for me at the time and both of us had our 'finished' 40's (relative term) and figured it would be fun to put together an FJ55. We score the piggy from DJ's Cruisers here in SLC when he went out of business ~2004. We put Sully's old 2F/4spd into it, FJ60 axles bucket seats out of a 4Runner and had a riot of a time with it. We did an epic Moab trip with 4 dudes and gear, drove it there and back and beat the death out of it the whole time :D

We took it on a few more trips but before long it was sitting for months on end as we both had other rigs. We sold it to a gent in St George (Mudder), he later sold it to another Mudder (the current owner) who had all the body fixed up. Fast forward a few years and Wyatt brought it on the Relic Run so I got to spend another weekend with it

Here it is as of last:
