I had trouble communicating with DS as well. I went with the ARB/IPF harness with three relays. My HI beam indicator works fine, and x1,000,000 better lighting. The best bang for the buck upgrade I have done to date.

I bought the ARB light harness from Kurt. I did not get a deal and it kills me that they may be out there. That being said it was a breeze to install and it has made a world of difference with just stock lights. New H4s going in this weekend with 80/110 bulbs from Costco. For 40.00 more and not one headache I believe for this rookie I still made the right decision.

Sorry to bump this thread but I already bought a relay harness and have all the problems described. I would like to fix the harness I already have. Can anyone tell me where I need to add the resisters and diodes?

Unless the harness was designed for Toyota, you will be doing some major modifications to get it to work. Toyota designed several circuits on our FJ6X series where the switch is on the ground side of the lights instead of the 12 volt side of the lights like most of the rest of the world. So, odds are your harness is for a switched hot vehicle and not a switched ground vehicle. You can use my schematic to help you get it wired right:
