FJ60 Ditch Light?

@ChaserFJ60 Can't believe you didn't sell a million of these Chase. Probably 80% of 4Runners near me have the mount that comes out of the gap in the hood, so why wouldn't it be popular with the 60 crowd?

So it’s safe to assume these were never made and there’s no sample set laying around somewhere collecting dust?

I have the CAD for a similar one but for an NMO antenna mount. I’ll throw together a mount for a light and upload the DXFs. Price through sendcutsend would likely be $30-40 for the pair in stainless steel

Edit, should work fine with minor tweaks

I am almost 100% confident that these from www.massivemetalshop.com will work on the 60 series. I have a set that I bought for my LX470 and was playing around in my garage and put them up against the bolt holes for the hood support and the hood closed and the looked to be in a useable location. I am getting ready to move otherwise I would dig out my mounts and take some pics. I still havent done anything with them since I bought them a while back. Im guessing someone could call/email the company and confirm the hole locations and make sure they line up. Could be an easy add to their website.

Edit: I will add its been a minute but there was a way it would work. Maybe I would have needed to add a rivnut or 2...

Not from me, My FJ60 hood shifts left and right enough where there the ditch light bracket would collide and chip away paint at any location protruding from the hood gap.
Anything attached to the door mirror requires drilling into sheet metal or would destroy the plastic arm if it ever got caught on a tree branch or any brush.

I came up with a version almost exactly like @BurntToast did in his post above

this is my file from 2023.

I went away from it because as mentioned before, even a light hit from a tree branch, brush, or a person leaning on your rig has too high a chance to cause damage, The nail in the coffin for this project was that the included wire harness for my test light was too thick to fit through any body panel.

this version attached to the hood hinges and stuck out the back, It was too weak and bounced too much.

this version was supposed to curl around the hood but had too many interference issues.

Went as far as 3D scanning the Hood but still couldn't find a rigid enough bracket for how far out it needed to extend from a mounting surface

Hopefully these ideas help somebody else out

Maybe I am lucky, but I never had the hood moving issues, but the gap being even from side to side is required. I have run my antenna/NMO version of the mount for the GMRS antenna for months without issues. The antenna cable passes in the hood gap at the back
