Spent Saturday rebuilding the power steering pump. What a nasty job. I'm convinced there is no good way to remove this thing. I wound up taking off the fan and unbolting the entire power steering bracket. Reinstalling the bracket with the pump attached is very frustrating.
I also gutted the smog pump and reinstalled it. Now the engine is much smoother and no screeching.
200 miles later and no leaks. Didn't think I would ever be so happy to see no leaks.
The new transmission is incredibly smooth and the previous owner must have really taken care of it. The only issue that has popped up is that it is loud in reverse. Maybe that will improve but I can live with it if it doesn't.
Suspension is on deck this week and it's time to start gathering parts for an air conditioning over haul.
