Hello fron sunny South Africa.

I was very fortunate to get hold of an almost complete FJ55, 1980 Model, here in South Africa. According to our records we counted 7 runners, including mine, which will be restored to it's original glory with 2F engine. It had a Diesel ADE, which I did not buy with the vehicle, because I just love that sound of the 2F and I also believe that such a seldom vehicle must be brought back to it's original status. Only difference will be a 5 Speed box (now fitted) instead of the 4 Speed box, but I can live with that! :D

According to hearsay, the vehicle was white (maybe red/white ??) with red  interior. Have not decided on a colour yet, but I think a red interior is a no go. Prefer black rather!

My vehicle is exactly as per this quote
The FJ56V had a body type that was only produced for sale in Japan, but the vehicles for export took on the 2F-type engine instead of the F-type, and also took on the name FJ55V. There are many differences in the outside appearance of the FJ56V and the FJ55V, with the FJ56V having a larger bulge in the engine hood, as well as the same combination lamp parts as used in the 40-series, but with the triangular windows abolished.

from hereTOYOTA LAND CRUISER Data Library,

but my Vin Plate reads FJ55R instead of FJ55V.

Does someone have additional Info regarding the R ?? :hhmm:
I will also post a picture of the VIN Plate as soon as I have removed it.

Herewith a few pictures from the day when I collected Miss Piggy!
As you can see, the previous owner started with a respray job, but then lost interest.

Miss Piggy behind a trusty steed for the next 850km home!

As you can see everything was just dumped into the back of the truck!
It seems all the parts are there, but I still have to remove everything to take stock. :hhmm:

Lot of work is waiting, but I will keep ya all posted about the progress. Don't expect a quick resto as I have 2 x 40's lined up in front, but I need to move quick on them so that I can drive Miss Piggy sooner then later!

I will ask more questions down the road during the restoration process!

The "R" refers to right hand drive. The ones in North America would probably be FJ55LV. The "V" simply means a van body or station wagon.

Red is likely NOT the original interior color. All I've ever seen is black or charcoal grey.
