Yeah. Not even the engine so much as the overall comfort of a wagon. We had 3 people and a dog and ice chest and chairs and no one had to hold anything on their lap to make it all fit.

Well, I had hoped to start swapping the motor this week, but instead I got the flu and haven't got off the couch or the toilet since Monday night... I'm finally feeling less terrible today, and I am in no way up for pulling the motor out of the blue pig, but I am going to at least get her hosed out and clean today. Ready to start next week. Annoyed because my wife is at Applehill all weekend with my sister in law and mom, and it would have been a great weekend to get it started... but oh well.

2 years is WAY too long for her to sit there waiting.

I have also decided that I want to NOT keep it 100% stock either... I know.. I know... but I want to love to drive it. I have a bad shoulder (that's getting worse) and need PS, I like to not run into things so I want disk brakes all around. And.. I want fuel injection. I hate carburetors. I love my brother's 3FE in his 62. It just drove nice, didn't stumble and get annoying at angles.

I want to keep it looking 90% stock from the outside. MIGHT put a small lift, but more likely just slightly longer shackles and 31s. I want it to look stock until you open the hood. The interior I will have to put some better seats in, but I think I'm going to use the Procar seats, they look right inside a 70's car and won't take away from the old school coolness of the pig. I want to dynamat the floors and roof and carpet. And.. some A/C.

That's my long term plan for her. None of mechanical stuff will be happening anytime soon, because I'm broke. For now I'm just going to get the F I have into it and drive it around and enjoy it until I can start building.

OK.. going to try getting off my butt for a while and hope my neighbors don't find me passed out in the pig later... ohhh the flu sucks.

Haha... this is like swing flu SARS and Ebola all rolled into one... it's been a LONG time since I've been this sick. But at least it's mostly over. I'm still feeling weak, but I also haven't really eaten anything since Monday so that can't help.

Ha ha.. I know that thread.

I have been cleaning it a little and unplugging the easy stuff from the motor. Pretty much what I can do without moving too much. I hope tomorrow I can actual some something major done, but today I'm just not there yet.

Got to start researching tires. Once the motor is in, tires have to happen right away. Two of the tires on it I think are original... scary!

Yay... for the first time in 2 weeks, I am up and moving around. Still feel beat up, but not sick anymore.
Got the seats, seatbelts, and floor mats out today. After worst flu I've ever had, even that was exhausting. Hopefully in the next few days I'll get some strength back and can get the motor out and ready for the new motor. I am SUPER excited about maybe having a running pig by next week.

Going to shopvac out all the nasties, then take a bucket and some soap and water and just scrub it all down really good and get it nice and clean. Going to do some rust prevention down there and then cover it all up with soundproofing and put the rubber mats back in... I'd like carpet but maybe down the road. Just want to get it cleaned out and running for now.

But... now the rain is coming in so I'm going to go back out and put everything indoors and close up the pig and hopefully Wednesday I can get the motor out and get it over to my parent's house where the new motor is. Then I can take off the flywheel and clutch (praying it has a reuseable for now clutch) and swap them onto the new motor and then bring it back to install. My goal is to have a running pig next Monday.

Progress... even if it's an hour at a time... :)

The piggy got a bath today. It almost doesn't even look like the same truck! Going to address the few rust spots that need some love, and then paint them and put the interior back in and call it good for now. I'm going to get some dynamat or something similar and heat/sound proof it throughout and HOPEFULLY carpet it. Is there a molded carpet kit out there for these? haha.. right.. I know.. but it can't hurt to ask. Anything anyone found that works? If not, I'll just put the rubber mats back in for now until I can have something made.

YAY! Major progress today. I finally felt up to climbing around unbolting big bolts. The old crusty engine is out! Ready for the new shiny one. I am going to take the bellhousing and flywheel off tomorrow and see if I can't get a clutch tomorrow. I'd really like to have it all together and ready to go in Wednesday. My brother is at my parents house right now.. where the other motor is. I figure I might be able to get some help if I can get the pig over there this week. haha.
