Was priming the oil pump when a water milk started puking out the oil filter pressure switch hole. Missing that… rut roh! Head gasket ! Head came off / polished the bores and wire wheeled. Head was sent off - 3 angle valve job - new seals - decked. All parts steam cleaned and checked

More bright work! Then the fuel tank - it was beyond saving and this is where Nolan steps in. He had a fuel tank, and I was looking for an fj60 axle for the rear of the FJ55. Easier brake system and one of his friends had one with an ARB installed - complete system switch to air compressor. Agreed to all of it and in the middle of lock down drove over to Mississippi and snatched them. Also little Ben was growing up
Fast!

This Is Daniel, he had some FJ55. He was a stop on the way back home from visiting a friend. (More later) the tank I got from Nolan had a rats nest in the middle of the tank. The radiator shop cleaned it out but wouldn’t line it. No problem- ordered a kit and follow instructions. I poured the excess out into a bucket then coated the outside. This tank will out live me.

Love the posts. Congrats on Ben, looks to be a great helper!!! He definitely steals the spotlight on this thread and rightfully so! Good for you and your family for doing something far and above what you have to do, speaks volumes!

Where does someone get a shirt with a diff on it??

2000, that was my first GSMTR, flat towed the 40. Lars was with me and he rode his 4 wheeler all over the place. I remember going up trail 7 at GSMTR (the right after the stream crossing) and stopping. There were 2 FJ55 behind us and the owner of the First One (NOLAN) was banging on the starter in his 350 chevy PIG. The rest are from 1999- when I sunk my Ford and got pulled out by two FJ40s. The Tan FJ40 Belonged to Shawn Mueller, Co-worker, and Steve Lawrence the gun metal grey FJ40. About 3 months later I bought my own. There is something about owning the same Landcruiser that drove our competition to out do the others. One of us would get a 4 speed trans and the other 2 had it a month later. ECT ECT... It was an awesome time just being able to bomb around and have fun.

Back to the FJ55, cleaned up air cleaner, getting closer to running. New fancy pull up and out hinges. And wall art for Steve Lawerance, he was the dark colored 40 that pulled me out of the creek. We have been BFF’s ever since …. Gues who love jet skis !
