I believe you are looking for something that does not exist unless someone has done some serious modifications. There are a few LWB 45's available with diesel but a good one will cost some serious money. Good luck.......1978HJ45 (pickup)

I have a 1978 HJ45 LWB ( H diesel ) from Australia. I can't say with absolute certainty that there are no HJ45/47's in Canada however most seem to come from Oz, New Zealand or other parts of the Pacific Rim.

As previously said, I have never seen a stock shortie with a diesel, and certainly not past about 1965.

The only way to get your hands on a later SWB 45 is by actually buying a 43 or 44 frame and driveline and dropping a SWB body on it. The rear wheels are in the same spot. The rear rails may need to be extended.

HJ45s/47s in the startes will almost always be a RHD as they are super rare in LHD contries with the diesel. South America is where I would look if I had to have LHD.

I have a contact with some but they are not cheap, especially for the LHD ones. He's got a 1979 HJ45 RHD right now... I don't know his price..

K

P.S. Never had a grey landcruiser in the 40 series (OEM)

Many of the South American Cruisers have experienced a very "hard" life and have not benefitted from routine maintenance.
I am not saying a good one can't be found but it will require some effort. Unfortunately good HJ45 pickups ( either LHD or RHD) often go north of $25,000.

Truth! My Honduran model HJ-45lwb was not exactly "pampered" down there. I am fully expecting to take it down to the frame, cut off all the "repairs," then take it to a frame shop to make sure it's straight, after which I will do the repairs correctly.

Ever seen so much bondo that the running boards no longer have checker plate pattern? Yeah, that's Central America.

There's a really, really nice FJ-45swb for sale with a Cummins B3.3 in it linked to in the 45 section, on SOR's site, and the owner is a member here (and the build thread is here). If you've got the bucks, that one would be hard to beat.

Or you can change your search to the 45lwb...

Preventive maintenance is probably not high on the "to do list" in Central and South America. Lets see...feed the family...work on the Toyota. ( well you get the idea )

Thanks for all the help guys..... I don't want to spend an arm and a leg but I would like a descent "TOYOTA LANDCRUISER TRUCK" I need somewhere for my St. Bernard to ride and I am tired of picking dog hair out of the 40. I want a screaming deal on whatever I buy and I do have cash. Thanks for all of your help.

Let me define an arm and a leg..............It has to be UNDER $20000.00 I saw that one with the Cummins but there is no way I can afford that. Very nice truck. I don't want a show truck just a daily driver.

There is currently a 1978 HJ45 ( no affliation or details ) advertised on "c-a-r-s.com" formerly "Globalclassicimports.com"
