california FJ45 pickup

Anyone have a 1965 FJ45 longbed with Cal vanity plates 65FJ45? I sold mine years ago and signed the plates to the 2nd owner after me. Would love to know it's current condition etc.

Hi, I dont recall your name but we talked years ago about your old truck.I owned it around 1994 and sold it a few years later to a guy on here.He was just recently trying to sell it, it got completely restored with an ls1, 5spd,springover, etc,was for sale for 50k! I actually just asked him for the plates back that he never returned to me, but he said he lost them?

Did you buy it from a pilot? I think i was the 4th owner. Original owner was a minor in Sutter Creek, CA. area. I bought it from a friend, rebuilt it and sold it to a Pilot in So. Cal. Anyway, just curious. Selling it was one of my big regrets. I still have an FJ40 to restore but have been out of the loop for a long time. You were probably the one that called me to get the plates originally if it was around 94. Anyway, thanks for the update, what a cool rig. Eric

Eric i did buy it from a pilot in la! The best running f motor i ever owned!! You painted it cat yellow.if you look in the classifieds its still there, houseofdiesel is the member and it is in the 45 classifieds, he actually had a pic of it from when it was white still. I still have a half hour video the pilot sent me when i wanted to buy it, complete with zebra stripes!

I'm never going to hear the end of it about the plates. :whoops:
Are the plates still under your name or would I have to go down to the DMV and pay for new ones?

That's a sweet back story. Here she was how I got her.

Registering a "new" FJ45 SWB

Well, for those that are interested, I'd like to register my 1965/66 FJ45 SWB. VIN-22880. Owned by Pete Williams (ctcv1984) in Rocklin, CA. Some of you may remember this 45 from Cruizers.com back in late 2008. It was Robin's Egg blue, even the wheels-ugly. I stumbled onto the ad and saw that it was about an hour and a half from where I live and it was still for sale. Bought it about a week later and, after killing all the Black Widows (it sat in a field for about 3 years) started the tear down. Now It"s approaching completion after over 4 years. I've seen that a lot of you guys are really passionate about your 45's and any modification is unholy. So with that in mind I will say that my 45 is a resto-mod. Let the comments begin. Anyway, I will be posting pics as soon as I learn how to. I've been a semi-regular visitor to Ih8mud for several years and just registered today. I also have a '71 FJ40 that I bought in 2004. I bought my first 40 in '78 just before getting out of the military. More later if you want. Pete.

FJ 45

It's removable. Truck was in pretty good condition considering it sat in a field for about 3 years before I came along, Took it all the way down to the frame. I've made quite a few mod's but nothing that can't be reversed. My big regret is that, now that it's almost done I didn't take nearly enough photos. I guess I have about 50 or thereabouts. Photos to come. Pete.

Ok you 45 guys that have information on the 45 LB. What were the total numbers imported into the U.S. and for the year 1965 as I am in the process of acquiring one 45LB that is real clean. working out the details of picking it up from it's barn storage, as soon as I have it home and in my position I will be sharing it with everyone on the MUD. Been waiting for a long time to find this one mostly stock.
