Please excuse my ignorance here; I haven't seen many of these. Is this worth picking up? Any idea what it's worth? And, the big Q.....how available are parts???

I'll give you $500 and a case of beer for it. :D

Might be willing to throw in a pizza if it's still got floorboards.

I love ny 55 but that rig is cooler because it's so darn rare. I'd probably swap keys straight across. :hhmm:

Body parts from the cowl section back are next to impossible to find.

off the top of my head that looks like a 8-10k truck. rust looks not too bad..

Drivetrain parts interchange w/ *most years FJ40/45/:pig: Hard to tell from one pic how much it's worth. Need some frame & interior pics. Looks unmolested, so it's a great platform for a resto or buildup.

You may be better off posting this on the 45 owners club section of this forum.

FJ45 Owners Club - IH8MUD.com

There is a registry in that section that may tell you just how rare it is. Lots of other good info to decide on a good price as well.

Nice find though. Don't let the lack of available parts scare you. This forum has all the know how to get you geared up. for the right project offers of help will come out of the woodwork.

And we need more pics.

And if your looking to flip it, I'll give $600 and a case of beer and a pizza. :flipoff2:

Hey, thanks for the interest in this cruiser. It's not mine yet, I was just wondering how much I should offer the owner. I was quite surprised at how little rust there is on this rig. Unfortunately, I don't think it's in running condition. It has spent the last 20+ years sitting in a farmer's field. I was told that it's either a '68 or '69....

If I'm able to purchase it, maybe I can offer you guys GOOD beer and pizza for some help restoring it!!!!

1967 was the last production year for the 45 wagon, but it could have been sold in 68 or 69.It looks like its 1966 or earlier?

Offer the guy $500.

It is worth what someone will pay for it. Does the owner want to get rid of it? Does he think it is worth many thousands? To restore it will cost you many thousands. But...all of the parts can be had. Drive train parts are the easiest to get.

looks pretty good for sitting that long, the grass is still green underneath the rig???

even sitting that long if the engine will rotate you should be able to get it running, brakes will probably need work.

Hello, nice find. This FJ45LV should be a 1965 or earlier, '66 models had the locking cover over the fuel cap. Not unusual to see one licensed as a later model, or incorrect year. See if it has a brass tag attached to the VIN plate with a year stamped in it, this is the year it would have been retitled to., but not year of production. Up through 1964 the VIN had a prefix that indicated the year produced, such as: 4FJ45XXXXX would be 1964. You should buy this. The FJ45 Wagon is, in my experience, one of the most capable Beasts of it's time. Ask Gene (AKA: Land Cruiser Junky) what he thinks of his, or do a search on "Project FJ35 is over" and "Project Phoenix". With the classic 40series look, with more room for "stuff" in the back. Also, if the axles are original they are the ball and claw type, not birfields. Best of luck!

From that pic it looks like it's almost all there. Depending on floor rust and if the tailgate is in decent condition I would say it's worth at least 5-7k. The fact that it's not running is a non issue. Barely affects the value at all. It's nicer than mine. That I can tell for sure.

This forum never fails to amaze me with the wealth of knowledge (and humour!!). A couple of years ago the current owner towed it out of his friend's field where it had sat for 20+ years. I took a look at the rig just after he had towed it into his yard. Said the only other Lv he had seen was in a museum, so I think he thinks it's worth alot!! I wish I ahd taken more photos. From what I remember, the seats were in rough shape, but there were no holes in the floor, and minimal surface rust for the age of the rig!! Everyone's interest here has renewed my interest in this LV. Once I get some time off work I'll see if I can convince the owner to give it up!!

This is sick! Three years back, I bought a 60-series. Then, a 62. Now I'm up to my elbows in my '40. But [head hanging] now I want an FJ45LV!! :crybaby: Please don't let on that I have the LV disease! I'll go into treatment, I promise.

H .... I was quite surprised at how little rust there is on this rig.

strong buy if there is little rust.I would take her if the price is ok, the asking price* isn`t utopian

The upside down bezel will detract from the value of the LV by 80% (irreversible damage), darn near impossible to correct. :)

:D

Cheers

is this some cruiser joke? my bezel was "upside down" when i bought mine a couple months ago, and everyone in the local club let me know it. but what po would knowingly swap it. i feel like ive been the butt end of a joke and i dont want to find out the hard way lol.

Rust hides in these rigs, really. I would say that you could spend a lot more on fixing it than you could sell it for if that matters. Drivetrain out of similar 40 series is the same for the year, similar to later years. If you go into the 45 section look up the build by buckarouseau (sp) and see what he did and others as well. Several folks have started LV (and other major resto's) and then bail after they realize they bit off way too much. Good luck and don't give him anymore than you really want..
