As one of Kevin's repeat customers, you should know his work is indistinguishable from the originals--the attention to small details like the spot welds, exact dimensions, and final fit and finish is not seen nowadays. I just laid the headache rack "triangles" Kevin made on top of the originals I have, and they are spot on. And, there is no way Toyota today would sell a tailgate for that price, let alone one that would be 50 years old by now.

Such a shame that in today's world, the pride in craftsmanship and reputation have all but been forgotten. Kevin, my hat is off to you !

Let me know when you're ready to ship!

I'll send you a quick messg

Full width of the rig, about 64"

Any chance of getting the top rail only for a '67 LBP tailgate?

Not at the moment. I made only enough top rails for the full assemblies. I could make extra during the next run.

Payment sent, along with schedule of upcoming 'blackout' dates.

Watertown, I am afraid I don't have any left to sell. I will likely make more before spring but for now I have none.

Bummer, I was just referred to this thread sounds like I am too late. Let me know I would be in on a tailgate for sure, getting ready to do body and paint in 30 days.

Did my first test fit of the gate yesterday. Unbolted the old gate from the hinges, dropped the new gate in place...and turned all six hinge bolts in by hand! Very impressive.

Went to close the gate and found the left side binding with 30 degrees left to go to vertical. Dang. My truck had been wooped hard before I got it (tree fell on cab, replacement windshield frame) and my valance looks like a piece of fried bacon. I spent most of the rest of the day disassembling, cutting, pulling, beating, welding and grinding just to get the left side of the valance pushed back out far enough for the gate to close. Here's some pics of the end result.

One question? Am I supposed to put plugs or something in all those holes in the bottom of the hinge channel? My original gate didn't have any, and it didn't have any rust that would make me think I should have some holes for drainage.

Well, I'm relived it fit!

Drain holes - my 1978 tailgate had them and it was my template for laying out the parts. I would just leave them open as you can't see them unless you are under the truck. I suppose you could find a grommet to plug them if you so desired.

Replied to both conversations above.

Just to let everyone know .... I am currently out of stock but will be making another batch by spring (April - ish). I will post up here when I'm about to start so if you are interested you can watch this thread and thereby be notified when I start.

I do have one sale pending payment from a certain moderator and I'm holding it hostage until that deadbeat pays up!! o_O
