Hey team - I've been corresponding with Reborn FJ regarding their reproduction 45 series headache rack. I asked them if they add the tabs at the top corners and they said they could no problem, but they asked if there was a specific angle they need to use. I would like to send them some basic measurements. Example - the width between the tabs. Width of the tabs themselves.

I did cursory research here but couldn't find any numbers, only photos of what others have fabbed up. Does anyone out there have some information specific to these tabs?

I made a template a while back as well. I believe the metal is 1/8” thick and 1” wide.

Here are some pics of the orientation. The best way I could describe the orientation is using the "flat section" as shown on picture 2. If you use the horizontal plane of the rack as the reference plane, (0 degree), then the angle I measured with a protractor to the flat section on the ear is 103 degrees. Stated another way, the flat section on the ear is NOT perpendicular with the top of the rack, it is at 103 degrees. I measured the ear as 1" wide x 0.1" thick. When I made these I used 12 gauge sheet metal stock (0.1085" thick). Please note that both of the ear bases that touch the rack have the same curvature as the rack corner. If you put the radius on the ear bases, they will sit on the rack with very little pressure. As shown in picture 4, there was only one spot weld on the each of the ear bases holding it to the rack.

Let me know if this helps you.

The rack listed above is the most accurate reproduction of the factory headache rack. I strongly recommend purchasing it.

Thank you @xtremeVA and @Unimogguy! All of this is extremely helpful. Now I have more things to consider!

There’s an original in CA for sale currently.
Needs a little bit of work but the vendor Iisted above might sell you the missing vertical supports? It’s super cheap tho! If I was in CA I’d already own it.

That’s a smoking deal!

I know….I contacted him several years ago and asked if he’d ship it. I even called a couple local shippers to see if they’d ship it and they said they would. After telling him this he seemed uninterested in dropping it off or selling it to me. So I moved on and posted it here:

I posted it up in that thread above so hopefully one of you CA FJ45 guys could snag it and it would go into my LC karma bank. There’s been several deals posted in that 45 thread over the past couple years. There are several still there surprisingly?!?! The headache rack included.

I stopped chasing the 45’s as hard as I used to so my posting is infrequent. That and I’m tied up in flight school currently. Plus the guy I used to work for got pretty upset when he found out I was just sitting around on his clock and surfing for FJ45 deals and not cleaning the donut shop.

Probably why I’ve been unemployed…😏
