The sector shaft on my fj40 with factory power steering is rusty and leaking. Has anyone used a speedi sleeve for repair? Would it be worth the effort to chuck it up in a lathe and remove just a fraction of the shaft so the sleeve would be flush with the shaft?

I've only used one on the handbrake.
As long as the worn shaft is true then just a bit of sealant should fill the wear.
If its heavily pitted or asymmetrical then maybe worth turning but if you're only turning down the thickness of the sleeve then it's not worth doing.
Otherwise you'd need a smaller size speedi obviously and seal to match.

Also remember that the drive end of the speedi has a radius, so it can't butt up against a turned lip
