:bounce2: Allright dudes, lookin fawesome!
Just read an article in TT about a father & son build. It seemed the father exceeded his budget waaay high, but the experience building the rig with his son was priceless ;p Hope you guys don't blow your budget & have a great build :bounce2: :hillbilly: Post up some larger & close up pics too.......

he then passed on the budget problem down to his son :D

Really cool build by the way. it truly is a great experience to have such a cool project with your father, I hope you enjoyit just as much I did and still do.

ok im almost to the point that i have to paint the frame. and i what some opinion's on what color. the fj will have a yellow paint job so i need a color that will go with that.

i was thinking a nice dark blue. what do you think?

I prefer lime green myself...:flipoff2: he....he....but blue would look cool....

not red. youll look like your sponsered by MC Donalds
but i would say black just in case of future mods to the frame, you never know. just my opinon tho. more pics would be nice

here is a picture that i drew of what i am aiming for.

this is an older pic but mainly what i have to do to the frame now it to bot a box in kit on it. you can see in the picture were the p owner tried to strengthen a weak spot.

this is a pic of the rear end.

After remounting my rear coilovers four times, I suggest that you go ahead and move yours as far as possible outboard while the body is still off. That few inches on both sides will make a big difference. It looks like your are well inside where the factory leafs went. Cycle the suspension and get them as close to the frame as you can without scratching those pretty coilovers ;) :wrench::beer:

Can you let us know what kind of hydraulic steering ull be using ,i want to convert mine

i am using a 2.5" Double Ended hydrolic Steering. full hydro im deciding on whether to get a new tub or try to rebuild the one i have. its in pretty bad shape and most of it would have to be chopped and replaced.

the brand is PSC i chose this because i didn't want to have to figure out how to get all that travel to work with a arm from the steering going to the axle. so with this full hydro all i need is fluid lines and i will have all the power i need to turn 40-46 inch tires.

this is a pic of what im using i have it sitting waiting on me to get it on the axle.

Thanks Sounds good must be the way to go
How about street driving any idear how good it might be

well i am guessing its going to be like a tractor when you turn it stays were you turn it. this means it does not recenter itself when u let go of the wheel. but i don't mind that because this is going to be mainly off road. my 79 fj40 is for the road.

46s on yota axles? Good luck with that, not only strength but width is going to be a huge concern.

I think you should lower the truck 6", and hack the frame in the rear so you can position your coilovers correctly.

x2. good luck with 46s. the steering parts on the axle would not be to happy.
