Does anyone have pictures from back in the day? To get started, this is me in front of my Dad's '75. Picture was taken in August of 1977. The 'cruiser had burbank springs, 32 inch Tru-Tracs on White spokers, Downey header, Holley carb and a Warn winch. My Dad used to take me on club runs in a car seat! I'd love to find this rig again. Hopefully it's aged better than I have!

I'm the little guy in the middle. Same truck 45 years later.Does anyone have pictures from back in the day? To get started, this is me in front of my Dad's '75. Picture was taken in August of 1977. Thank you! Production day March 1976. It has front disc. Yeah my folk put on the rear wheel flairs in the 80s. Kinda wish it was left alone. It was always garage kept so rust is minimal. Thanks again!Looks like a 75 that still has drum brakes up front? Appears to been well preserved other than the cut rear wheel wells. Still has the period correct white spokes.
Welcome to mud!

I always wondered why my '76 (12/75) FJ40 only has lap belts - thanks for the info.Prior to 1/76 US model FJ40s only had lap belts.
My folks had a buyer for it 8 years ago. I wasn't happy about it when they told me so I ended up buying it. Figured it should to stay in the family.Should be glad your folks at least hung on to it. I should have noticed the three point seat belts in the older picture. Looking at the free wheeling hubs and use to that style being on a coarse spline drum brake axles. 76 model was the start of disc brakes in the US. Here is my 10/75 76 model with disc brakes. Prior to 1/76 US model FJ40s only had lap belts.

Good eye!!! I didn't notice that in the pic. Didn't think nothing of it since it has lap belts in it as long as I can remember. I'll have to ask Pops about that!
Yep! The top was removed and the 3 points where lost. I'll have to look into picking up a set of 3 points. ThxMaybe has him for a few bucks back. If they ran without the top may replaced the three point belts lap belt and just left those in. Still find a few people who never wear seat belts. Back in the seventies was a lot more common. With the top and doors off lap seat belt comes in handy. During the 78 model Toyota moved the seat belt to the roll bar. Did this to my 68 FJ40 back in 1983 to gain three point seat belts. I know a kit is available to use the roll bar. I just installed a roll bar from a wrecked 79 to gain the three point.

The belts work almost too good. Lock up all the time off road. It was obvious the 79 owner wasn't wearing a seat belt. Could see where a head had broke the windshield. Installing three point seat belts is a good idea. Your hard top is still original with have a fixed nut high in the top and a bracket low just behind the seats.
Good ole' Elephant Hill.
