Hey guys. I am just curious if anyone out there has the 40 mirrors setup on their fenders like you see in non usa fj55 models.


If so what are your thoughts? Is it better? I have to be honest the little mirrors leave alot to be desired.
 
Come on... I know a few of you guys have these! help a brother out.
 
Had a 40 in Japan while I lived there and really liked having the mirrors on the fender. Much more intuitive for driving. You don't have to even turn your head to see what is around you, just a quick glance. Takes a bit of getting used to, but certainly aren't distracting once you are.

Hey everybody. In case anyone was wondering what I was talking about I just ran across this 55. This is exactly what I am looking at doing. It looks sharp and if it can eliminate a few blind spots I think it might be good.

Skip the mirrors- I want that window treatment:lol:. do they also come in "bead"?











I've considered doing the 40 mirrors on the door:meh:. I like the larger square-ish mirrors. MAF has some dirt el cheapo reproduction mirrors FYI
 
Ha, yeah thats pretty sweet. Gotta love those hardcore hippies.

MAF does have some super cheap ones. That is one of the reasons I am even considering it. We'll see what the budget allows for this month.

someone a few years ago took austrailan FJ60 mirrors which are much larger and foldable and made them fit in the stock location, with a spacer if I remember right.
 
I'd be interested in seeing that. That would be nice.

Hey Lemon... those are nice. So those are 70 series?

I really like the idea of using the original holes. I will look into that. Thanks for the pic.

i think they were. i know the turn signals were and i think i remember him saying something about the mirrors too.
