I’m looking for an OEM igniter/coil for a 5/1977 FJ40. I would like something that is in good condition with all the proper connectors.

Please let me know what you have.

Thanks!
Jeff

Have you found one yet? Late last year I pulled one from my '76 FJ40 to install an FJ60 electronic ignition. The '76 only had 64,000 miles on the odometer when pulled. Worked fine when pulled. The same coil and igniter were used from 9/75 until 9/77.

I was looking at a Pertronix upgrade but would prefer the stock route. Do you have any pictures? How much do you want for it?

Thanks!
Jeff

I did some more research. The '76 igniter is different than the '77 igniter. One difference is the wire connectors. Here is one of your connectors (from another thread):

Here are some photos of my coil and igniter:

Toyota improved the igniter with the '77 models, so you'd be better off with a '77 igniter.

Can you tell me the part # shown on the igniter? It should begin with 89620-6......

@4Cruisers i’m completely replating and restoring 3, 89620-60010’s 1975-77 igniters. What improvements were made in the 1977 igniters?

Yes, Alec. I’ve dismantled your two ignitors for circuit board cleaning and replacing some wires and connectors. I’ll post images of the process and end result in the coming weeks.
